Been a warm and pleasant enough day, but the rain started in earnest at about 6pm and is torrential at present.
Still no C&RT update e mail on Grove lock, and on ringing C&RT on Saturday to enquire they had 'no further information' from the inspection after the lock closure on Thursday last.
So this afternoon I rang Grove Lock Marina and asked if the lock is open, and it is 👍🏻

Its been raining for a few hours. English summer weather innit. Fire going which is very pleasant. A nice bit of well seasoned oak.

The rain's hammering down.
Sick of hearing it now.
At least it's not cold ... still 21 degrees in the boat.
On the plus side I guess we'll not have to water the pots in the morning 😊

River pretty low and calm so shouldn’t be anything to worry about here. Moored just above a weir mind, happily against some tall posts 😊

Another fairly mundane day at Slam Transport. Went to Milton Keynes then Nuneaton then sat around for most of the afternoon. Going to Lutterworth and Kettering tomorrow. Stu welded up the Vespa centre stand, I gave him four cans of Perla Mocna in return which he seemed very pleased with. If I'd gone to Coventry Scooters they would have fitted a new stand (£70 from Piaggio + £70 labour I would have thought) so I'm pleased too. Put a coat of metal paint on it and will put another coat on before I go to work at Slam Transport tomorrow, then hopefully it will all go back together tomorrow evening. It's currently hanging on the rotary clothes drier which is designed for such things.

Enjoying the Caldon, we did it over 10 years ago but most of it I don’t remember. Taking it slow, in part due to the weather, but today we traversed Stockton Brook, filled up with water and now at Hazelhurst Jn.

Froghall Basin is delightful if you can get through the tunnel.

We did go through on the original visit, but it was pretty tight and there was a slight bit of scrapery on the handrails. This time we have a load of plants on the roof which would have to go, so probably won’t bother. Mind you, it is very nice on the other side…

The flint mill at Cheddleton is worth a visit if it's open when you pass. And the Black Lion at Consall Forge has a barbecue in the garden at weekends at this time of year, really good local-butcher-sourced meat, none of your Tesco or Iceland rubbish.
It's compulsory to get *that* photo at Consall Forge.

Slightly poor weather and I got another stomach bug from the River.
Its getting a bit mental now with the 'water' companies pumping endless shit in and also the locks are breaking down on a daily basis.
All good fun summer Boating.
Someone coming to see Dulcinea tomorrow he might get a bit of a bargain if he wants it.
