It is progress of sorts I suppose. However I would fight for the right of any man (or woman) to burn sheep if they want to burn sheep. Its my right as a man to burn sheep. Don't you oppress me. I also think incinerating the shit is the best solution during winter rather than having a massive profit generating corporation dealing with it then just pumping into the rivers. Living in the relatively heavily peopled West Midlands, many inhabitants take the opportunity to burn sheep on any suny day. Oh sorry, they are barbequeing! Did you mean Baaabecuing?

We’re back to engine lock on the Caldon - really been going slow on this trip, but enjoying it. Jeff’s parents are arriving at Crewe station on 25th and we were going to direct them to Kidsgrove and then do the Macc, but we have enjoyed the Caldon so much I think we will take them back on that rather than the Macc. We now know where all the moorings and pubs are (Jeff’s dad likes a nice canalside pub!). So all those water-point-moorers on the Macc don’t need to stand to attention now

But anyway we just have 4 days (2 days out 2 days return) to get back to Kidsgrove area so we didn’t need to go beyond Bollington.

Moored down at Sharpness. The G&S is a lovely place to boat. Amazing views of the Severn bridge from our boat. Lovely warm and often sunny day, loads of swing bridges, all operated by CRT guys. Perfect day. Having just returned from there, despite the low numbers, the few reasonable mooring spots seem 'git gapped' with continuous moorers and the non existent 'veg pledge' does not help. The views from the end are quite wonderful and because of their isolation don't seem to get monopolized by overstayers. Odd how we all see things so differently. I’ve found loads of mooring, like that there are gaps, maybe that makes me a git😊. Swing bridges all done for you, lots of water points, refuse bins, pump outs.

After a busy day at Slam Transport (went to Saxmundham, Suffolk, a 300+ mile round trip) I've found a bit of time to do a bit to the Scoopy. Yesterday I rubbed down and Kurusted the indicator support arms which were rusty and tatty, today I gave them a coat of satin black metal paint. Also I have to repair the legshield. As a fair part is missing I'm going to have to pop-rivet in patches of old 4l Elsan blue plastic containers and although this will work, it's going to look a bit of a mess so I've decided to stickerbomb the whole scoot. I've started with the horn cover, which was probably trickier than the legshileld will be. I just have a lttle bit of fine tuning to do, then will give this 3-4 coats of acrylic lacquer. I reckon it will cost me less than £30 to do the whole bike. Here's before and after.

A bit cloudy and grey this morning.
We've had a great visit from my brother and his wife ... lots of fun.
Anybody visiting Leighton Buzzard I can heartily recommend the Turkish restaurant in the market square 'The Number One Kitchen'. Lovely staff and fabulous food.
Also the Ship Inn on the Linslade side of the canal and only five minutes or so from the canal at Tesco, is a great pub and their food is excellent too.
We also had a lovely meal in the Vibe Cafe canal side opposite Tesco.
We've enjoyed a week at Leighton but it's definitely time to move on now.

Rog You asked me about 16th century history but didn't get back to me. Is it something you wanted to discuss?

Little railway in Leighton Buzzard is nice. It actually goes from Leighton Buzzard to Stonehenge, I shit you not.
