Hope your friend has had breakfast...just looked at XCWeather...lows of a strong F5 gusting to a strong F6...crikey. An exciting ride. Is he heading north or south? South. He left the Hebrides last week. Had a couple of nights in Belfast and is now on way to Dublin. He has sent word that he is holding his location for the next day or so, waiting on weather, and I thought I was brave doing the tidal Thames π So if he's off the coast, as you said, and holding position, then presumably is currently hove-to...that would make the coast of Ireland on a lee shore since the wind is currently WSW...arrr...hope all's well... ETA correction that means the wind is moving almost directly along the Irish sea between the two coasts, so if one were hove-to then the northern entrance to the channel would be almost directly abeam which would (theoretically and hopefully) provide lots of sea-room...arrr again.

I made some home-made lemonade the other day, partly as a way of ensuring a daily dose of vitamin C. It is delicious. However, and for the first time in a fairly long while, I am gripped by the desire to have something alcoholic with it. Maybe wodka. The problem is that the easiest route to this end is to visit the local corner shop where prices are a gouge. Can I hold out? Such is my sad dilemma.

I imbibe at weekends, but not this weekend. Had a tour from throat to small intestine last week, watched the lobster claw nipper take samples along the way! No signs of anything nasty, just H Pilori, the ulcer bug, so 2 antibiotics and an antacid twice a day for a week. I hope biopsies show up clear too, best sacrifice a neighborhood cat to be sure.

Well, the endoscope theatre is set up so there is a big colour screen in front of the victim, as well as one behind for the operator to watch. A better set up than last time, a good few years back, up the nether end. I had to be told to lie down and not watch. It's to be hoped they sterilize the device after a peek at the other endπ₯΄

Took the bikes to the show, they received lots of interest, most notably the VeloSolex which I guess is understandable given its quirkiness. Couple of nice Vespas in the background for Ianali. Unfortunately but somewhat predictably the Lancaster flypast was cancelled due to wind speed being over its flying limit of 15mph. In other news I renewed the boat insurance through my dodgy Moldovan mafia-owned holding company which actually owns the boat after they wrote to me at my fake address in Kent to tell me it was due. It was Β£127.99 this year, third party cover. Will be nice to have the extra day off work at Slam Transport tomorrow.

River Wey next week with the offsprings. Should be fun. My mother bought my first Narrow Boat in 1992 from Pyrford marina. It was for her then I bought it anf lived on it starting 1994. They have been on special training operations abroad for 3 weeks. I expect they will look a little different when they return. They grow up so fast the blighters. I suppose if I can be arsed to stay alive at some point they will be adults. Some things never change. 1994 Boat with random shite on the roof. Remarkably similar to today's Boat !

Is that you and your Mum β Admiral ? Thanks for the photo Mr Stabby ... showed it to my mates who were especially impressed by the velosolex ... it is quirky. If we could have got there by public transport we would have. Hope the lads had a good time. Rog

Happy August Bank Holiday to everyone.
Lovely to wake once again to blue skies and sunshine rather than lashing rain.
Met up with old friends (in that I've known them many years and we're all geriatrics too π€) and having lots of fun.
Dinner on one of their boats last night, but off to the pub to eat at tea time today.
Weather's looking quite good as we rush into September, but then again it's usually good as we return home to begin work in October.
Not heard from work yet ... we'll chase it up this week.
Hope you're having fun too π
Rog

On Aug 16, 2024 at 7:51pm Mr Stabby said: Warwickshire Police have spent nearly two years investigating convicted thief and child sex offender Tony Dunkley's complaint that I had gained unauthorised access to the Police National Computer and they still apparently haven't finished. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Interesting remark, . . given that I've never made any such complaint to Warwickshire, or any other Police Force, . . and - " . . nearly two years" - means that the commencement of this fictional so-called investigation would have to pre-date the post linked to below by some four months :- thunderboat.boards.net/post/359739/thread Shit-for-Brains, indeed ! Or is that being somewhat harsh and rather unfair to shit ? *

During a chat yesterday, one of my friends was relating a story about her young grandson(19 years) who was recently and quite seriously describing to her how he lacks confidence and has low self esteem and feels "everyone is staring at me".
The grandson in question has green hair, but has shaved the crown of his head to display a large dragon tattoo, has stud piercings in his eyebrows, cheeks, nose and lips and at the time was dressed in what my friend described as outrageously flamboyant clothing.
Was it ever thus or is it harder to be young these days ... so many more choices and options !

Perhaps the young man could put a bag on his head, people wouldn't stare then.

A very conservative view, above. Certainly not what you'd expect from someone who claims to be 'progressive'.
