Perhaps the special sale price is because that's what TT Kier is planning to provide as a home for our Veterans... He's going to promote them on the list. Along with asylum seekers and ex. cons. No mention of those who get relegated on the list to accommodate them. That would just spoil things.

Converted shipping containers have been tried en-bloc as emergency accomodation. I could see that working out quite well if they were properly insulated.
Weird fact: more bombs were dropped on Hamburg and Dresden in a single night than were dropped on London during the entire 'blitz'. Germany sure did get properly fucked up. But they did a much better job of rebuilding. Even their social housing projects are way better. Mostly.
There are parts of London where you can still see the effects of the war. For example, in the Docklands area the Tate and Lyle factory stands all by itself like the last tooth in a gimmer's mouth.
Also there's an area in south-east London where pre-fabs constructed at the end of the war are still in use. The residents love them and have resisted all attempts to move them out for decades.
