White Swan, Marbury ... sat on the bench in the shade to take the photo ... and quietly sob Rog Was in that pub a couple of years ago. Iβm just back from a motorbike ride. Passed several of the pubs Iβve frequented over the years. None were open π. Chippy in Brinklow was, stopped for a snack there. Another lovely day, another great run out, do miss stopping for a shandy though.

Passed a couple of pubs today - fairly busy - both had signs up saying this is a private residence for now!

One pub we used back in the day was always empty until 10 minutes before closing time. The landlord went to bed at midnight and we ran the bar/till between us.; He was stuffed really, if he didn't play along he'd have gone out of business. Another had smoking lock-ins, out with the ashtrays at closing time. I'm sure there are plenty of pubs "open" if you're in the know.

Yesterday was a lovely day - having gone back to Skipton for a "socially distant" visit from friends on Tuesday, we chugged down to Kildwick, turned and then reversed a while to a nice bit overlooking the aire valley. Despite it being a "dry day" (every other day for drinking at the moment) it was nice to be out of the town centre again... Proud swan parents turned up with their signets for feeding - WHICH means, I have no bread for my toast this morning but small price to pay.

And tomorrow , apart from being Trina's birthday if anything can be truly said to be apart from that, is the big C&RT reveal of what's going to happen with the L&L. Have you had any hints of a window to get off quaysider ? It is lovely up around where you are ... but I wouldn't want to stay forever Rog PS good to see the crocs have gone

Of course that will get messed up cause of all the "locked locks" anyway - I doubt they'd have the sense to leave Blackburn and wigan open so you could work through at whatever time you arrived there... I've "asked" in the event of it NOT being opened to general boaters, they allow me to book slots at the locked, locks to work through at my own peril - I can't spend June trapped here and still be in the right place if we are allowed to operate in July...

Have just written to my boss saying how much holiday pay and 'extra free paid days' they owe me from the past 2 years. It will all have to come as one big lump. Unemployed as of Sunday - although it might be that really everything is just 'on hold' until August when schools re-start, and I get to hang on to keys, etc. (if there's Summer work I will need access). There is talk of staggering school classes after this Summer, and that could change the school bus system entirely throughout the country. Meanwhile, there are still no 'corona cases' up this way and a lot still feels surreal with roads still much emptier, less kids going to school, and markers on food shop floors encouraging people to keep apart. Time to start packing for our holiday next week

In today's Iltalehti newspaper: Swimming by car! KittilΓ€, Finnish Lapland. Has snowed more than usual up there this winter, has been a long cold Spring, and suddenly the temperature has risen, so the floods are in the News now. Something we'll have to investigate before we go! www.iltalehti.fi

Perfect mozzie conditions! No - that's why we're heading North - too cold for mosquitoes. As I have said before.
