As long as you adhere to strict social distancing it's ok.
Antisocial distancing is not allowed.
I'm definitely going to have to register one of my boats with the name "M.Y. Social Distance" before anyone else does !

I've just been stroking the female hedgehog, was lurking round the base of the tree where the bird nuts are and I threw some cat biscuits at it (Purina, chicken flavoured). Hedgehogs like cat biscuits. Crunch! Crunch! Crunch! And it let me touch it and sway it from side to side. Anyway, just de-stoned the fourth and last Winter tyre. Each tyre/wheel takes about an hour. I think it is a good thing to take out all the stones from the treads using a small screwdriver, so that the treads/grooves are not blocked and can once again take up and disperse water quickly. Pics show one side de-stoned. Back on in 4.5 months' time (mid-Oct)!!

My old laptop developed a fault a couple of weeks ago and as I didn't fancy having no Thunderboat while locked down I had a new one delivered ..... I'm still fighting the bloody thing !! Why the hell do they have to change how you do things !!!
Took quite a few photos but I'm having problems loading them on this lappy so they will have to follow later ........ what a glorious day to be out on the river

Now I understand where the term "Noddy boats" comes from. They do look distinctly small !!

And tomorrow , apart from being Trina 's birthday if anything can be truly said to be apart from that, is the big C&RT reveal of what's going to happen with the L&L. Have you had any hints of a window to get off quaysider ? It is lovely up around where you are ... but I wouldn't want to stay forever Rog PS good to see the crocs have gone Having spent a fair old while on the phone with them of late... a fair old while emailing Richard Delves (who is generally pretty good) AND chatting with the odd folk on the ground, the consensus is, they might offer a short window - of perhaps 2-3 days for boats to move.... Of course that will get messed up cause of all the "locked locks" anyway - I doubt they'd have the sense to leave Blackburn and wigan open so you could work through at whatever time you arrived there... I've "asked" in the event of it NOT being opened to general boaters, they allow me to book slots at the locked, locks to work through at my own peril - I can't spend June trapped here and still be in the right place if we are allowed to operate in July... Mark, just seen this posted on Facebook by Pennine WAterways; Leeds and Liverpool Canal: locks from Wigan to Bingley - Macclesfield Canal: Bosley locks - Peak Forest Canal: Marple locks Latest from CRT says that these lock flights will remain closed. However, CRT is planning to offer boaters "a window of opportunity" of two or three days in mid-June for "emergency boat movements". Dates to be announced.

YEah I got the email last night...a 2 to 3 day window doesn't make for an easy or enjoyable trip from Skipton to Wigan bottom... it's dooable but will depend on all flghts being open oven 24/7 , not too many visits down the weedhatch (on a canal that hasn't seen any movement in months) and assuming wigan top opening is flexible. No other choice than spends 1000s I don't have on a crane and lorry. when we get a date for certain, I'll see if wigan flight clue are prepared to help out the last bit and if they can get the top lock opened "out of hours" - That John bloke there is brilliant and well respected by crt so it might be an option. 3 days is preferred min but if I have to do it in 2 - I will. I've oramoph and oxycodone to keep the pain undercontrol.

A strange e mail I thought quaysider. It suggests the canal will DEFINITELY be open for the main season, but to do so it will be closed until July. It'll be a massive challenge to get from Gargrave to the bottom of Wigan in three days, but my money is on you if C&RT will play ball. Good luck ... hopefully in a couple of weeks time. Rog

I think CRT should be put in charge of British motorways.
