How's your journey going Mr Stabby ? Hope the strong winds haven't spoilt the fun. Rog It was a good trip, we did the entire length of the Ashby and got back to the mooring yesterday morning, since then we've done a few jobs on the boat and Sam's car. He goes home tomorrow but he's hoping to get up again at the end of the month to pick up his little Honda which should be sorted out by then. Strictly speaking I suppose he shouldn't have been staying on the boat but on the other hand we decide what we are going to do, not the Government.

Don't see a problem and glad it worked out.
Can you now arrange a DVLA medical with restrictions easing a little, or are you still left waiting ?

Not judging, but, is it ok to ignore the government advice? Does the UK actually have a 'government'? Looks like a bunch of buffoons to me, with a few 'ethnics' inserted to make it look 'politically correct'.

It's quite interesting to consider how UK gov would enforce things if something went wrong.
For some reason I don't think they have the manpower.
It's certainly been an interesting social experiment but not convinced it is much more than that.
Of course it's worth having a small scale practice run for when the system does actually collapse with climate changes and wholesale ecosystem destruction kicking in properly.
This little flu bug will seem like a walk in the park on a summer day with some pollen in the air.

I think if I fly over and the Police ask what I'm doing on a train I shall just say I'm off to a Black Lives Matter riot as I fancy a new 30" flatscreen TV and a new pair of trainers, and I have absolutely no intention of social distancing, and they shall say "That's perfectly fine, Sir, carry on!"

Yet another rainy morning here in Beverley, cold and grey and more forecast for the next few days. I suppose it will force me to tackle some of the "inside" jobs that I cheerfully put to one side during the glorious sunshine.

Would it be better if everyone just managed their own risk? If you're worried about catching the virus, stay at home and avoid social contact. If you are prepared to take the risk in public spaces, carry on as normal with others who are. Wouid it be a problem if a pub opened up and the staff and punters were prepared to take the risk? Bearing in mind not many pubs would do this yet, would it really overload the NHS with cases? I'm wondering how much of this is about litigation (money again!). I'm sure the smoking ban in pubs was to do with the fear of law suits. What if some pubs allowed smoking by mutual agreement and some didn't? What ever happened to free choice?

If those who are infectious wander around willy nilly the virus will spread.

That is the question and the problem ......
If too many people started doing it then the infection rate would climb and we would be back where we started with another full lockdown
or with a medical service under far more pressure and stress than you have the right to ask of people
What free choice would you be giving people who have accidents or a serious illness that requires an intensive care bed but can't get one because they are full ?
Would you be prepared to walk along a row of seriously ill people and make the decision of who gets treatment and who dies ?
or are you only prepared to ask it of someone else ?
what ever happened to free choice? don't talk bollocks

If those who are infectious wander around willy nilly the virus will spread. As is the case with any virus. It's just that with this virus we've been told by experts that if we don't do what we are told, half a million people will die. Freedom to wander around willy nilly in the future will depend on an R number.
