31 degrees here. Chilling alongside the river Hamble, whilst the gin palaces from the local marinas Potter about. Should be a comfortable night tonight.

Just cooked dinner on a fire. And relaxing with a few beers before hitting the hammocks. Little one is already in his.
Looks like some lighting in the distance. But not a single cloud yet. Hoping to catch the meteor shower if I can.

I love sleeping in a hammock - not too sure I'd like to be doing it under trees with a mega thunderstorm approaching but still... I bet the young un will look back on it as an adventure when he's older.
Closest I ever got (as a kid) was a similar set up in mum and dads back garden utilizing a weeping willow and rowan tree, a washing line and old flannelette sheets! - suffice to say, flannelette (however you spell it) is NOT very water proof lol.
THIS morning finds it already 20.5 degrees outside and 23.8 inside - the outside temp will be reported a bit high though as it's not in the shade but stuck to a solar panel bracket on the roof lol.
Last night was purgatory though - luckily, as we're temporarily stopping off at a marine with the pointy end sticking out a long way from the floating pontoon, leaving the front doors open without too much fear of being stolen in my sleep, was lower risk.
Tomorrow we leave bound for Liverpool and as yet are the only boat going in (19th) apparently... we're gonna be ahead of schedule so might have another quick run down to Tareleton and back on Monday... assuming the branch is open.

Tough day yesterday. Rode to Manchester from Nantwich and back. New floor fitted in house from hell, £5K poorer now. Further horrors revealed during the works: joists were inadequate 4'x3' supported by a large central beam. This beam was supported by a tower of bricks, the 'builder' didn't bother using any mortar during the construction. So basically a pile of bricks sitting on soil to support the floor, that was it. Also a new upvc front door I had fitted last year was revealed to have been bodged and needed re fitting. Offered the tenant some compensation for all the inconvenience (she's been great) and convinced her she should re decorate the room to her taste.
Next, popped next door to see 'Abdul' who's agreed to buy the 2 houses. Had tea and some lovely samosas. 'Abdul' is now buying with cash he tells me, previously he was going to get mortgages. I guess it will probably be a family affair, various Uber drivers involved, possibly some relatives in Islamabad or Lahore. I'm not over confident this will actually happen, recent experiences have taught me to expect the worst so if anything actually works out even reasonably well, that's a big positive bonus. He seems a decent, open fella but a decade of experience with folk east of here tells me to expect things to be rather different from what you might expect.
So, one house sold, another you can now enter without risking your life, a little bit of progress.
Punishing 40 mile ride home in the heat. When I got back here a new record high inside the boat of 97 degrees greeted me. Very little breeze blowing through, it wasn't the most comfortable evening.

I have never seen an electric storm light show as impressive or as long (almost two hours) and the rain, when it eventually hit at about midnight was torrential. Blue sky and warm sunshine already here ... at the moment it looks like another scorcher. Are the plans for the house purchase progressing too Clinton Cool ? Rog

Rog It's nearly 3 weeks since I heard anything at all from my solicitor. They haven't even asked me to pay for searches yet. I haven't chased it because I'll avoid having to pay £4K in tax if the buy to lets sell before this is completed.

We walked to Trentham Gardens yesterday ... very busy and but for putting a mask on to enter shops, very normal. Spent a bit of money, had an ice cream and then walked back calling for an icy beer on the way. As we were on a 24 hour mooring we've moved off to a quiet spot about a mile past Barlaston ... too hot for locking down to Stone today I think. The heat's not so bad but the lack of any significant breeze makes it feel much hotter even in the shade ... still ... not complaining ... soon enough we'll be sat in pouring rain looking back on todays swelter Keep cool folks. Rog

Rog Boiling here. Have popped back to house and all seems ok. Have a wasp nest that might need sorting. I might just leave them be(bee) though. Back to boat by weekend and will try to get off the Ashby, water level permitting.
