we bought little Rufus with us for the week, loving playing in front of the stove.. It is truly touching, and a testament to your kindness, that you can find it in your heart to show true affection towards a cat which is quite clearly ginger.

Maybe he was hungry and viewing the animal as a potential source of nutrition.

Strange coincidence. My dad had a doberman he named Freya. For all the 18 years he was with my mum, a dog lover, he refused to have any dogs despite us living in huge houses with ponies, domestic fowl etc etc. As soon as he left and remarried he got a doberman. It was his dog not the new wife's dog as she had a cocker spaniel. Weird. After that our single mother house was filled with lurchers. People are odd. I never intended getting a Shepherd ..partic as one attacked me couple weeks before I viewed Freya. I certainly never intended getting a white one as mums had the pancreas deficiency and tad aggressive.. I intended getting a small dog that would slot into my life and travel with ease in the back of a mini cooper soft top. U r right people are odd. I blame Coronageddon

Here in Penkridge it's been hammering down again since my bilge alarm went off about 4.30... I MUST clean out the channels around the engine board - content we weren't going to sink, I pulled the battery and tried to get back to sleep... alas that was not to be.
When the guest leaves shortly, we'll chug on and try for Stone tonight - gonna have a few days on shore power as the batteries were down to 52% this morning and that's WITH the inverter off over night ... it looks like 2 years is all I'm ever gonna get out of lead acids but they will have to wait until someone pays early next year. The sky is STILL black and looks like it's going to chuck the 4 th wet day of travelling on a row at me.
Whatever it was I did in a past life, I can't be FAR off paying for it now shirley!

Well half way through the day and the rain starting to drizzle down.... Change of plan and left daughters dog at hers as decided couldn't face the mayhem with another play date, instead I'll drag the one thats hiding under a blanket out round the block again as soon as she starts to play up. Met the 'in law' for coffee outside coffee shop..u can have a bit too much fresh chilled damp air...

Ended up last night in the cheapo curry house in Welsh row, if anyone is heading for Nantwich for food on a Saturday, suggest you book well in advance, we called every eating place and all but the curry house was booked, gonna book somewhere for our return next Friday. Today’s plans are water then hoof it to middlewich to go out for a few bevvies tonight, then tomorrow head up the T&M, no idea where we will end up but we have to turn Wednesday morning to be back. I hope weather has been better for you... 40mph winds here and driving rain...dragged Freya out on 2 walks....not a nice day. Weather was better yesterday, only made it to church minshull though, wandered to the pub which was a little sterile and boring. now at middlewich, just moored up as the heavens opened up, not sat with a cup of tea and a beef joint in the slow cooker for later. may wonder into town if the rain stops for an hour, need shampoo and drain stuff as the sink is not playing ball.

Desperately low on gas so went through one lock to Venetian. Excellent price, £27.80 for 13KG, more than a fiver cheaper than elsewhere. Not so impressed with £3.60 for a not very big bag of kindling. Similar bag £1.99 from Home Bargains but they didn't have any this morning. Now moored just south/ west of Venetian, 48 hour moorings, nobody here, I shall overstay.

When I asked Mark on the fuel boat Callisto why his kindling was so expensive, he told me it was hand-carved on the thighs of Nepalese virgins. Half an hour pulling apart and chopping up a scrap pallet from work gives me enough kindling to last for months.

Chainsaws are not dangerous at all if you just cut down. Being careless with them and cutting here, there & everywhere with wanton abandon can make the bar jump - but a consistent movement from the same angle time and time again, and nothing untoward will happen.
