I have a phone which makes phone calls and texts, it also shows the time which is handy 'cos I don't wear a watch .... that is just as far as I wish to be "connected" in this modern technological world I wear a watch...an old fashioned 'ladies' watch with a small face and thin strap.....I am the only person who has ever brought replacement straps at the local shop...I've now brought the last few on the understanding the guy will continue to change them as necessary...he's not stocking anymore as there is no demand. I love my watch. I don't want a fit watch or a gadget. I would like another but all those I see have bigger faces and I like small unobtrusive . I insured Freya and they sent me a welcome gift for her....a dogs fitness tracker...nah not going down that route. I think I'll regift that one.....

Lots of rain forecast today but it's holding off for now. Only 2 days left on the boat before adventures new!

The Bosun has a Huwaiwaiaiwiaia watch that is linked to his Huwuauauauaiuuwyuiwiwi phone. It tells him to get up periodically and move. It also monitors his sleep patterns. Whilst he is adamant he's usually had a bad nights sleep (as an excuse to be really grumpy on a monrning) the watch says other wise... quite often 9 or more hours! Apparently, it reports sleep cycles - rem, deep, light etc.
It doesn't stop him snarling for the first 2 hours every day however!
I slept really well last night - soothed by the constant rain on the roof of the boat and exhausted havving binge watched The Haunting of Bly manor yesterday. It seems it rains in Manchester all the time... we've been here a little over a week now and it's barely stopped long enough to get to the bins without getting soaked.
Dry November is looming (I've been practicing doing alternate days and then every 3rd day) but having been keeping an eye on the old blood pressure, know it needs to be done.

If I had another dog I would be tempted by one of those mini GPS dog trackers. Jetsi used to really get around if walking in woodland as she was partly a Squirrelhound and very fit and fast. It would have been nice to know where she was. I did worry a lot but she never actually did get lost. I suppose with an active dog the device might just get broken...

Wasn't a bad day yesterday ... we had a walk to Mexborough and had breakfast ... jolly pleasant too. A little grey and overcast today, but still dry. I've been cancelled for work today ... sales must be low this week. My fitbit reports on sleep patterns etc. too but as I don't have a smart phone, it's linked to Jane's phone ... I am blessed with untroubled sleep anytime, anywhere, so have little interest in this aspect of the fitbit's functions ... just a wristwatch that shows me my step count and pulse rate. I suppose these days monitoring your temperature would be useful Rog

Jane bought me a fitbit for my birthday ... now I'm not allowed to run I'm doing exercises every other day and trying to walk everyday. Fascinating bit of kit ... has anyone got one ? I'm intrigued how many steps I'll do at work tomorrow (only four hours) but it does prompt me to keep moving and to go for a walk. Being fairly lazy by nature I'm pleased to have the prompt to move my bum Rog Donβt they also store the data? So a corporation has very personal medical information about you. Sorry to be a spoilsport. If you wrap tin foil around the watch they cant access it

My apple watch used to tell me to get up and move, i turned that part off.
The steps bit is interesting, i walk on average 5k a day, just at work around the factory.
I looked back to June 15th, the day we tackled Heartbreak hill, 13k steps and 11.5km.

Just out of interest (for those few who find it interesting) this morning Jane went out for a walk and did over 10,000 steps which equates to just over 4.5 miles.
I meanwhile did my exercies for back and knee, including 160 sit ups, and 250 press ups.
I then picked her up in the car and we discovered despite the huge disparity in steps (1,600 for me and 10,000 plus for Jane) we'd burned similar calories ... around 1600.
Interesting ... I would have expected her walk to have used much more than me.
