essential journey for essential supplies ... and I, too, had to suffer such a journey today.... Despite humungous flakes of snow last night, closely followed by torrential wind and rain into the early hours, it was a beautiful sunny morning here with a clear blue sky. I really needed to replenish my water tank after ten days on the same mooring - and I just HAD to check my engine repairs under load .... Seems we were lucky and escaped the worst of Christoph here - hope everyone is safe and well x

Beautiful morning again ... you look out at the sunrise and for a second can forget the pandemic, floods, politics etc.
Lounge with a brew, exercises and a walk.
My mate (live aboard) had a large tree blown down, adjacent to his boat so that the smaller top branches just caused minor scratches to his new paintwork ... very lucky to avoid worse damage ... very unlucky to be hit at all.
Hope everyone here escaped storm problems.
Rog

It was certainly a strong blow last night ...... it was a waste of time me straightening the flue for the wood burner yesterday ..... it's back at it's jaunty angle
Although the water is not high enough for Shapfell to float properly, obviously the bow was quite light. It has been blown towards Sabina ...... It's now a little too close for easy working so I will have to get the waders on and lever her back. I am surprised she moved as the bow line (that failed to hold) was tied to a lump of scrap that weighs 20 or 30 lbs acting as a mud weight (on the concrete )
The water level here is still going down, we never got the amount of rain that occured inland and it never got as high as it was earlier in the week.
Ah well, at least it's nice and sunny to go splashing about in the water

Looks like a lovely day ahead in sunny Cheshire - yes, I used the words sunny and Cheshire in the same sentence.
A tad windy still, and it certainly feels chilly, but I'll take that over the frequent rain we've had. The spirits of the entire crew - both imaginary and real- are lifted by the reappearance of this neglectful sun, which like a divorced parent has now turned up to make its weekly visit.
On the down side, I have run out of excuses to postpone the tiling of the fire boards around the stove. As with any DIY tasks the possibilities for damage and catastrophe abound, yet we shall gird our loins (whatever that means) and press on.

Bloody hell that water is cold !!! My legs and feet were cold through the waders but my finger tips hurt !!! My collection of flotsam is growing !!! one boat, one 150 litre ? platic barrel, one 4 foot square floating stillage, one 10 foot long wooden gangway, one wooden folding directors chair, 30 foot of new multiplait, and a heck of a lot of firewood (now stored in the floating stillage) Shapfell now back in a more sensible position and extra scrap tied on the mudweight
The sun might be lovely but it's perishing cold

using cheap girders can seriously damage your health

I've visions of "uncle Bulgaria" paddling up to his neck! lol. You are a force to be reckoned with mister... I keep intending to put my waders on and do some touching up at the bow (the pontoon doesn't reach beyond centre point) but everyime I get them out, I'm reminded how chilly it will be and change my mind. Today we have sunshine, clear skies and about 2 degrees. Once I do my accounts, I'm gonna head out for my boring walk - trying to time it with 'pop-master' on radio 2... it breaks up the mundaneness a llittle. .

Lovely sunny day here in Rugby. I'm sat in the truck, hidden in the corner of the yard in order to hide from any work that may need doing. Have a busy-ish weekend lined up, some work on the car, new brake shoes on the Honda plus all the usual stuff.

, yet we shall gird our loins (whatever that means) and press on. I believe that refers to the practice of tucking away a mans dangly bits prior to a battle.......
