Freyas 'paddling pool' is getting ever larger as it expands over the field.... No trees down just lots of water and mud... Left Freya at home and nipped to get the odd bottle or 2 of red wine....

It’s definately still rising, it’s started flowing over the towpath here now. Oh well I probably haven’t got enough milk, but it won’t be the end of the world.

Nice day yesterday but the "English Storm" (to misquote The Donald) has now reached us. Driving rain etc. But at least we live on a hill so hopefully should be OK. Lots of snow inland but nothing in Aberdeen. Another day not to be doing any work on my glider - making bread and tinkering with electronics instead. Which is a shame because the control cable has now arrived and I'd quite like to get on with replacing the rudder cables - but wouldnt even dare to open the trailer lift-top lid in this weather! Jeff is just about to serve up home-made soup and hot ciabatta bread for my lunch, so life isn't all bad!

I need to get into soup making, was looking at a machine on the Amazon.. cant decide if its a waste of dosh though and just chuck stuff in a pan to get the same result.

Just chuck in pan / on top of stove etc. But then normally you’d want to blend it a bit, depending on type of soup, but in terms of “soup machine” a blender is all you need.

I always get a nasty feeling when I see something called a "hand blender". My fingers start hurting.

Chop, pan and hand blender for Jane (or skirmendizer as she calls it). Can't imagine a machine adding anything. Jane makes terrific soups ... my favourites are her carrot soup (spuds, onion and curry paste in it too) and broccoli and stilton soup A lovely, if windy day here ... dry and sunny but the wind is chilly. Managed 15,000 steps and called for a take away coffee on the way ... certainly makes more of the day. Glad we don't have to handle -30 degrees all winter like naughtyfox ... the ideas terrifying. I have a hand blender, and a chopper/blender.. I may have a go this weekend, got nothing else to do! Get one of those ninja pro choppers. We have one and it’s brilliant for all sorts of stuff. Only uses 200 watts for about 2-3 seconds. We use it for fritters, soups, salads and coleslaw etc.
