Started out lovely here so hung clothes out to dry..... my trousers ended up next door as a sudden hooley gusted through.... he's lucky as nether region garments stayed this side of the fence...... Walked daughters dogs, the young one stole dog treats from someones bag and ran like a whippet.... all good fun.

Manky morning, the towpath by the boat is under three inches of water, and it's still raining. No strong winds yet, so I think it's wet weather gear and cruise, as we'll not be able to move tomorrow (40 plus mph wind). We did get the laundry done fairly painlessly. Croissants at the Sainsbury's and then coffee at the Oddfellows Arms, by which time it was all washed and dried. Time to go Rog

Yes, miserable day at Fradley too. Middle lock is due to open at 16:30 today, but there's no real point setting off then, especially as I will have to go astern for 100 yards or so unless I go down to Alrewas to wind. Going backwards is always "interesting" so I'll wait until tomorrow as it will probably take a while, will have to go astern through Junction Lock too.
Will have to brave the elements and pop-pop off to the Co-op on the Yellow Peril this afternoon as I am out of both bread and beer.
Ribble Link now booked, although this was a palaver as the online booking system said that my draught of 0.7m was over the limit of 0.69m, although their own guidelines state the limit as 2' 3" / 0.7m. A phone call to Leeds, and a call-back from the local Ribble CRT office got it sorted out though, and they've changed the website so the metric equivalent of 2'3" is now 0.7m. Going up on 5th April and back on 22nd April.

May be worth reversing up this afternoon Vince, if the wind is as strong near you in the morning as it is here. Forty plus mph winds and reversing are not a great combination.
Rain stopped as we climbed up Compton lock, and a bit of blue sky and sunshine appeared as we cruised. Glad we went now.
Back at Coven in a reasonable bit of shelter, without large trees alongside. We'll sit tomorrow's storms out.

Glad I'm in a safe spot. Strained my back on Thursday, so not been off the boat since then. Fortunately was well stocked up so haven't needed to go shopping. Each time I moved Friday was Aaaaarrrrrgh !!!, Saturday Aarrgh, Sunday Argh, Yesterday Ow, today ..... Hopefully that means tomorrow I can start doing things as long as I'm careful

Back near Acton Trussell and enjoyed cruising in the dry, and considerably less wind. Called at Penkridge for essential supplies (Guiness for tomorrow's three match extravaganza) and cruised on for another couple of hours. Just tied up, good tv picture, no one nearby to be disturbed by 7 hours genny tomorrow, all's right with the world. Well actually no it isn't ... but we all have out troubles Rog

Short move today, Rugeley to Great Haywood. Stocked up with supplies in Rugeley, and am preparing to sit out the storm predicted for tomorrow. I may move up to Stone (3-4 hours) if the weather isn't too bad but equally I'm not in any rush so I can stay here if needs be, particularly as for the first time in six months I have the port side against the bank and the nearside paintwork seriously needs a day of polish, wax and elbow grease.

Why didn't you spend another month at work instead of frittering away your time in the wind and rain?
