Wheaton Aston and diesel at Turner's is 70.9p (Fazeley Mill makes it look expensive !). Lovely cruise, with loads of kingfishers to accompany us. Services done, turned, reversed for diesel, and moored opposite the pub, just as it started to rain. Shower and a walk to the coop ... then pub o clock. And we have tv signal for the rugby Rog 70.9p😱Blooming heck,I've never seen Turner's that expensive !

If you are heading up the T&M, be aware that the stoppage at Aston Lock (just short of Stone) has just been extended to 24th March. I've just checked this out and the Aston Lock referred to here is lock 3, at Shardlow, not lock 26 (the one near Stone) which is scheduled to re-open on the 15th March. Lock 3, Aston Lock, near Aston on Trent, Trent and Mersey Canal Notice Details From Date: 7th January 2019 at 08:00 To Date: 24th March 2019 at 16:00 inclusive Type:Navigation ClosureReason:RepairNotice updates: 08/03/2019 @ 08:22 Unfortunately, we will be unable to complete the repairs needed at Aston Lock 3 as we had hoped and planned. We have had considerable additional work to do including the complete replacement of quoins and collars on all the gates, followed by the replacement of the top and bottom gates, as well as extensive brickwork repairs to the lock chamber walls. The team has been working hard to complete this work as advertised (including working at weekends) but more time is needed to finish all the additional repairs required. Lock 26, Aston Lock, Trent and Mersey Canal Notice Details From Date: 25th February 2019 at 08:00 To Date: 15th March 2019 at 16:00 inclusive Type:Navigation ClosureReason:RepairDescription: Replacement of brickwork which is missing from under the coper

Lovely sunny, but cold cruise from Wheaton Aston to Compton on the Staffs & Worc. About four and a half hours, including going beyond Compton, locking down to the winding hole, and returning to moor in town. Amazingly we again only saw one moving boat. The wind was a bit on the strong side and cold, but in the odd sheltered spot in the sun it PROPERLY qualified as glorious ! Still annoys me everytime we pass Autherley, that C&RT have never replaced the elsan they removed despite assurances that they would. I have complained about it many times ... I think I feel yet another Mr Angry e mail brewing. Mind you it could be the fish, chips and peas I've just eaten at the Compton chippy. Utterly excellent. We'd only had a banana each as we cruised so we were 'ravishing' Laundry tomorrow ... need to stop my socks humming Rog
