Maybe once our government recognises our democratic decision to leave the European State it has become, we can get on with those things...we’d have more money too! whose democratic decision? 17.8 million out of an electorate of 46 million? it is human nature to be enthusiastic and vote for change if that is what you want........ it is also human nature to be unenthusiastic and not bother to vote to retain the status quo. 28 million did not vote to leave. <iframe width="22.660000000000082" height="5.480000000000018" style="position: absolute; width: 22.660000000000082px; height: 5.480000000000018px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_90665180" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="22.660000000000082" height="5.480000000000018" style="position: absolute; width: 22.66px; height: 5.48px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1074px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_22964005" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="22.660000000000082" height="5.480000000000018" style="position: absolute; width: 22.66px; height: 5.48px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 212px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_88827338" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="22.660000000000082" height="5.480000000000018" style="position: absolute; width: 22.66px; height: 5.48px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1074px; top: 212px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_15973579" scrolling="no"></iframe> the rules surrounding the so-called referendum were a load of bollox, and were the result of a situation created by a lacklustre and over-confident gentleman called Cameron. One problem with the present system is the amount of time and (our) money that goes into destroying what the last lot did and tying legal knots in the hope the next next lot won't be able to do what they want to do.
Proportional representation might stop that waste. It seems to me that stopping politicians on both sides from doing pretty much anything would be a good thing. I don't remember them voluntarily doing anything worthwhile in my lifetime. They just bicker and destroy.

Another connected issue that really pee's me off, is that the only debate and discussion regarding party policy takes place in the media. What happened to the days when policy was agreed and then announced to the media? Rog I thought the same people who control our politicians also control our media. Or is that just a conspiracy theory? I like conspiracy theories..thats when we can twist any fact to suit

"Pro European is who we are and who we have always been. Our members are REMAIN. Our values are REMAIN. Our hearts are REMAIN."
The deputy leader of the Labour Party said that to the press.
Does anyone but him actually believe that's true ?
I'm sure the leader and shadow cabinet don't agree.
And what about the northern Labour strongholds that voted 'out' ?

I wonder if these are randomly inserted in order to generate complaints and get admin at the forum host to have a look occasionally. Last time it was reported someone got very hot under the collar about foxy and his right whinge things. Slimy Indians if I remember right.

As for plebiscites it seems blatantly obvious that all no cast votes should be counted as happy with the status quo. If you can't be arsed to vote then you are by definition not bothered.

To be fair, if you don't vote then you don't care which way it goes, because if you did prefer one way over the other you would vote.

Maybe I should have put "bovvered" as in "do I look bovvered". Someone who is not bothered is not engaged in the topic and could therefore reasonably be assumed to be happy for existing arrangements to continue. Which would mean that the 2016 plebiscite result was a large majority for existing arrangements to continue. If you remain seated on the train it means you are happy to carry on with the journey. If not then when the train stops you get off it.
