So I bought my ton of anthracite for £320 delivered to the boat, first shovel full on and its burning grand in the Rayburn, anybody else bought their winters supply and what is it and what did you pay?

I have nowhere to store coal other than on the roof, so it's bags for me. Pay around 8 quid for 20kg bags of 'red'. A dozen or so bags will see me through to January, when I go away. I always buy a bag or two of petcoke as well, like to mix it with the red when it's particularly cold.

We've had the fire on in this house three times in the past week. This morning was -4 Centigrade, fields and lawns all white with whore frost.

Tomorrow I've got to nip and get a few bags of Oxbow Excel to leave onboard, and about 60lts of diesel to leave the tank full. We'll be home from Saturday until first week of January so need enough coal on board to keep us going until we can meet up with Mark on Calisto. Unfortunately having to buy three or four bags at a time tends to mean we pay top prices, but it's unavoidable. I know a farm mooring near Ansty where there's a lorry driver who's out at work most days, leaving a huge pile of bagged coal on his mooring ... just saying Rog

Although I suspect you might still find Red Leb if it still exists.

And it's that time of the evening again to snuggle under the quilt and sink into the world of very strange dreams.
