Target practice on a borrowed boat. I hope in future he's restricted to an inflatable canoe.

The people operating president generally seem to be pretty incompetent. I recall it coming to moor near us at Gt Haywood, took them about 20 mins during which time they lost a piling hook and someone fell in.
Anyway, someone should tell the steerers that if you put the rudder over at nearly 90 degrees, then put it in fwd, the rudder stalls and the turning effect is minimal.

Years ago (about 20) I went up Watford flight with another narrow boat. There was a prat lock keeper there. he proceeded to explain that if we were proper boaters we would have behaved as a motor and butty. at the same time he was clearly irritated that I was 20 years old and had a nice shiny Russell Newbery in my boat !
Anyway shortly afterwards an old Josher I think it was FERN came along and he said "watch them".
So I did. By the time we met I was well away from the lock. The old fellow crew member on the Josher was shaking as it clattered into my boat "where is the lock?" He asked in a panicked voice. I pointed to the lock which was a couple of boat lengths away. "Over there" I could see him shaking. The boat had far too much way on.
If there was a reward for incompetence I would have given it out there and then. Or maybe they had a gear linkage problem. Either way it's always good to put it in neutral well before you need to just to make sure the linkage is working. I always do that.

It always amuses me that many dress up (the women as well as the men) in corduroy kecks, braces, neckerchiefs and hats, and yet seem singularly incompetent at boat handling.
The replica tug Adamant, with some bearded old dodderer on the tiller, rammed us at Rose narrow boats, despite a young bloke on the bow shouting repeatedly at him "back up there's a boat". He hit us about six feet back from the bow.
Fortunately Sam Cole built good solid shells and no damage was caused.

Even I learned to straighten the tiller after changing gears. It did not take long to work out it didn't steer very well otherwise. You would have thought someone of his position would be able to steer a boat.

Years ago President was stuck at a bridge, I squeezed past and gave it a tug off! All I can say is that even with it butty on tow President is fast she chased me up the cut for about fifty yards before they slowed her down, I thought she had got me at one point but I managed to escape. They gave me some stuff and I had a play with the very nice steam engine as a reward

Just watched the video with SOUND. I mean... what?! Far too fast in both cases/crashes. His insurance premiums should be doubled! Old man = shrivelled brain = dangerous. Take his driving licence away too, if he has one, before he kills someone.
