I suspect that as soon as we get Brexit done we will be knee deep in illegals crossing the channel. I imagine the Eu will aid there crossings. That's happening right now. BECAUSE of the EU. I don’t agree, but we can only wait and see.

"New Finland leader: ‘silent blessing’ given to bring home Islamic State kids.
HELSINKI (Reuters) – Finland’s new prime minister said on Wednesday the center-left coalition government had given its “silent blessing” to the Foreign Minister to go ahead with plans to repatriate children of women who traveled to Syria to join Islamic State.
The remarks by Prime Minister Sanna Marin, a day after she took office, could set the stage for a conflict within her five member center-left coalition, which has yet to agree a position on the issue of repatriations.
The coalition’s second biggest party, the Centre Party, which toppled Marin’s predecessor last week, has so far withheld support for the Foreign Ministry’s plans.
Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said he had nominated a special envoy to look into how more than 30 Finnish children currently trapped at the Al-Hol camp in northeastern Syria could be brought home.
“(Our) guidelines include the idea that at least the children could be brought to safety from the camp within a reasonable timeframe,” Haavisto told reporters, adding that it was not clear how quickly that could take place.
The Red Cross says around 68,000 people are being held in Al-Hol, mostly the family members of defeated Islamic State fighters, two thirds of them children. Finland is one of many EU countries trying to decide what to do about their citizens.
And then there are red faces and cover-ups all round as a plane already took off from Iraq headed to Finland - observable on Flightradar24 until someone was told to cut the transponder. The Police chief of Finland informed he was told to get ready for the arrival of this plane (so he'll probably be looking for a new job soon...). This is akin to bringing in Shamima Begums. The Danish government voted that anyone who went off to fight for ISIS loses their Danish nationality and are not welcome back to Denmark. Those living in their Ivory Towers in Finland believe the 'Kill the Infidels' types can be rehabilitated within Finland and that everyone can all live happily ever after side by side. That worked out well on London Bridge, didn't it?

Ian if the Labour/Libs party had won it would have been a signal to me that peoples minds had changed on Brexit, the massive majority for the Tories reinforces the message that people still want Brexit, also the Tories got 45% of the vote according to the beeb program I am watching. I am pleased with this result because we all know that this GE was about Brexit and clearly people still want to go ahead with it, their can be no claims that we were ill informed as the last 3 years has made us all experts whatever that means, for me I dont want to fall out with remainers, it is just one of those things and if we ever meet the first pint is on me
Actual figures voting tory 13,905,520 labour 10,282,632
Which is a significant amount more for tories
Yes I accept that the tories won by a significant amount. I was pointing out that labour still received lots of votes. As for Brexit I know it will happen, I just think it’s a mistake and nobody has given me a good reason for it. No one knows how it will play out but if trade deals go wrong then god knows what will happen. I’d guess in the end that all the countries involved have so much to lose that little will change. I simply can’t see the point of it all. Anyway, Ive no intention of falling out with you or anyone over politics. I look forward to that pint someday. Utterly agree with your 'can't see the point' comment. We also have to remember that Boris has a withdrawal agreement ONLY ... the work on trade deals hasn't really begun. However after three plus tortuous years I'm at least pleased that we can all move on. I'm hoping for a strong reborn Labour party, swift trade deals, a strengthening economy, and that the Tories will at least ATTEMPT to rebuild trust in government. I did say hoping for these things Rog

I have posted quite a few times about the dreadful anti democratic actions of the EU commission on the EU ....... so here is another one This is an interview of someone who believes that the EU is salvageable. I disagree with his conclusions but just listen to what he says ..... maybe you will change your view on the EU

Been reading the Times today and there are some fascinating views expressed. The London based celebs who identify everyone who voted 'leave' as racist and nationalist or 'clueless and ignorant' for a start ! People north of Watford ... ex miners , steel workers, ship builders ... who have voted for a party they still blame for the destruction of their communities and livelihoods ... generations of Labour party supporters turning to the Tories ... to dismiss them all as simply racist is UNBELIEVABLY conceited and disrespectful. A piece by Janice Turner (despite being a London journo, lives in Doncaster) makes excellent, thought provoking reading. Ms Turner also finished by describing Boris (the winner in these former Labour heartlands) as looking like the owner of a dragon he bought on ebay whilst drunk "It scares him, he doesn't understand it, he knows its not really his" Wouldn't it be terrific if, despite our fears, the Tories actually recognise the position they have been gifted ... seek to repay that debt and shine ... what a christmas story that would make Rog

To be clear I am no great fan of the Eu, I just don’t see that Boris or whoever we have is any different to them. So by leaving the Eu all I see is the same type of leadership. So why change? I believe leaving is a huge risk to our trading and god help us if we have to rely on trade with the USA. I heard Donald this morning congratulate Boris. I also heard him say what a tremendous opportunity for trade there is now with the UK. He ended by saying that the UK is desperate to trade with the US... I found that rather chilling.

Isn't it more likely that Boris' first item on the agenda is to kiss all the arses of those who donated so generously to Conservative party funds?

Yes ... but maybe the christmas 'visitations' will put him in touch with his conscience, he'll give his clerks a raise, and see the little lad from Leeds General Infirmary throw away his crutches and cry out "god bless us everyone".
Okay ... you're right ... but it would be great wouldn't it ?

Wealth redistribution is a wonderful thing. To those that have shall be given. As the saying goes.
And screw the others.
What a pleasant way to run a country.
