If she is going around S America then she will be back towards the end of March. I looked at a couple of cruise itineraries as I was interested to see how long it takes - about 3 months with all the stopovers.

I find it amazing that people actually choose to do this. Not referring to reading the DM but that is also a concern.

Do what? Go on long cruises? I'd be bored to death. I suppose when you are young and free, the prospect of being naughty and getting several catches might appeal, but then you go aboard and find it is full of crinklies and you are doomed to spend the next 3 weeks listening to their tales of trips to the doctor's and staring at their varicose veins.

Yes I was referring to the cruise liner thing.
Someone once described it as like being in one of those horrible large shopping centres but there are no exits.
Sounds hellish.

But I can see the appeal if you want to escape the influence of your family for a spell for instance. Or you want to "see" the world without getting too near. Or you need some enforced relaxation i.e. the no escape thing.

There is obviously some appeal.
My woman's sister and husband did a cruise. I think they displaced their children onto another relative. The brother in law told me that on the cruise he had access to unlimited alcohol. So he chose to just get permanently bollocksed.
Not all bad then.
It would not work for me and the woman as we never displace our kids onto other people let's just say one night out as a couple in ten years and a total of 15 hours of childcare other than school.

I hear they appeal to the infirm (which is ironic if there's an outbreak of something nasty).

I love cruise ships - I've been on over 30 cruise holidays (although non in the last 3 years).... When I eventually get divorce debt free, I plan on spending "winter" doing world cruises from Jan - end of March... NOT for the fore-see able however :-(

I've never been on a cruise ship cruise.Have the idea that at the end,I'd be 96 stone & hate Americans even more than I do now.I'd hate to be organised but could soooo easily be led into eating & drinking my own body weight.Have to admit, some of the Rhine river cruises don't look at all bad,but too bloody expensive !
