Nothing to do with boating! (Well, there's a chain ferry and a rowing boat). Just some clips I filmed at normal speed on last week's trip by car to the Kainuu region, north-west Finland. Video is 4:22 minutes long. If the subtitles don't appear, click on the little cc icon at the bottom right and choose 'ON': That was excellent, a lovely restfull video and wonderful scenery.

No subtitles or cc icon in first film. There should be if you click the 'cc' bottom right. When I sent, by mobile phone, the video to Pirkko to see how things went, there was no text in that either until you click on the (blue) YouTube link (and not watch it from 'window-in-window') - from the 'original' YT video there's and option to have subtitles. I shall have to look at this Windows VideoEditor sometime to see if there's the possibility of adding text to the clips, before uploading to YouTube (although I think there is not). Oh well, just a bit of fun.

No subtitles or cc icon in first film. Rog shows up as a small square with marks on it , meant to look like a page with writing? just to the left of the "cog" in bottom right

I get the subtitles clicking on the first video on this page, I suspect it's a personal settings thing. I think the subtitles add something, but don't worry too much if you can't find them.

Woodpecker Lives Matter! Baby woodpecker stumbling round in our back garden. It's 32C in the shade but we went out and after putting a few drops of fresh water down its open beak (it's not every day you see right down the throat of a woodpecker!) I picked it up and put it well into the shade of the house. Better than in direct sunlight. How it's got here....? Dropped out of nest and crawled? Flew out of nest and made it just to here? We haven't seen the woodpeckers for over 3 weeks now. After an hour we went to check on it and it was on its back with legs in air. Looked like dead, but it isn't, and we decided to put it in the old wire cat basket and put it in the car garage where the temperature is just +19C, and will check on it after a couple of hours. There's seems to be little you can do (looked on t'Net) apart from perhaps give it some water + sugar solution with a pipette. I'm glad I put workgloves on as it bit my finger and screeched. Easy to pick up as its claws grabbed hold of the glove - I had to remove the glove with bird still gripping it with t'other hand.

Update at 1735: went to check on the woodpecker and it seems to have perked up a bit in the cool garage. We will leave it in peace until around 10pm when it'll be cooler outside, and put it at the base of the tree where we found it. I walked to the village a couple of hours ago to get photocopies* from the library and if the woodpecker had been lying in the sun not moving for a couple of hours it'd be desiccated, it really is that blazing hot.
*copies of hull survey and repair work to send to our boat insurers - now should not need another survey until 2029/2030.

Whatβs his name? Hamish dePfeffel McGillycuddy. There was a label attached to his suitcase that was next to him. Also I went through his wallet and saw it on his driving licence.
