Hellooo down there in the swamps! All fine apart from a strained diaphragm from retching. Hail showers up here all day, had to go out to feed the hens, got the first white egg of the year. I have been threatening the lazy buggers with a pan and a knife. Of course they all claimed they had laid the egg, even Speckledy hen, who only lays brown eggs.

Oh bugger. Fig of three has had it bad this time. Last time the towpath was scoured out but not the far side, there was by wash there, possibly in need of pointing up? That's not far from the top end of Broad Cut, the boats at the bottom end had all fitted fixed scaff poles just in case, clamped to the bollards. Hope they are OK. I'll bet the pub copped for it.

I'll bet the pub copped for it. it must have done cause the scout boat (was moored outside the pub) is currently on the towpath and they are appealing for a crane (presumably free) to get it back in again... I don't know if any other boats down there were chucked out too like boxing day 15 - There's another boat sunk (catherine Anne) - you'll have seen her about - I think mirfield way by the look of the photos on facebook... we REALLY did survive by the skin of our teeth and stanley flood gates... 10cm more and we'd have been in the same (pardon the pun) boat

Be Prepared. A quick coat of blacking while it's out on the hard.
I've got a length of Ali scaff and long Shaft I could use to stop going over towpath. Never know when you might need it these days up and down from Todmorden eastwards.
@someboater has a pole off a 20ft Regents Canal Barge, pole probably longer than the boat, would be just the job.

The mess at Figure of Three locks looks to me suspiciously like a C&RT rehearsal for a second attempt at what they failed to achieve at Whaley Bridge last year.

I think storm dennis might have it back floating anyway - even more likely now cause of the "big hole" a mile or so upstream at figure of 3... I do hope they take the opportunity when sorting it out to mend the ground paddles that have been bust for years

I tied up the boat on Saturday after a short cruise, as the wind was predicted to be bad I though best to slip the center line on also, loose mind just as a back up in case the other two lines came loose, the mooring outside Bosworth marina is not the best now the marina has sole use of the old visitor moorings with rings, leaves you on the old wooden planks..
Sunday thought it might be best to pop back up and have a check, all ok but water had risen a bit, still a bit of slack on the center line, more rain and Monday I was nervous at work so went after work and took off the center line..
Now with Dennis coming I will have to go back up again..
Roll on summer.
