hey! you made the bet, not me. I'm glad we agree on that point. As you did not also bet with me there will be no £50 prize money. It's like someone waiting for a Number 12 bus in London for half an hour and saying, "I bet when it comes there will be two behind it!", yet when it comes it is alone - just who are they supposed to pay their bet to? I'm also betting you are a bit of a twat.

All your details to the pub? "I downloaded an app for the owners of a couple to see how things might work. And this is what the app said to expect (this is for Greene King pubs): "Please arrive at the time of booking and our 'pub safe host' will greet you. The host will advise you to take a copy of our disposable menus before showing you to your socially distanced table. To further reduce contact with our team, you can now use Order & Pay at your table.". And so on. Frankly it read more like some guidance given to you from a tour guide on the edges of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone than going to your local for a pint." "I've seen pubs asking for photo ID to verify your details before signing the 'register' (GDPR anyone?) and then being shown to your seat" "The Wolverhampton-based group, which owns the Pitcher & Piano and Revere chains, said it would leave pens and paper for customers to fill out their details if they wanted to." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8465287/Boss-pub-chain-Marstons-declares-war-coronavirus-red-tape.html"Let's see how his establishments fare when the Local Authorities' "Covid Compliance Teams" pitch up to check them out." "GDPR is often cited as a reason to not do something. But it does not prevent this particular data use, as it will qualify as processing personal data to protect the vital interests of the data subject and other persons. Copies of the ID should not, of course, be kept, and the personal data given should not be visible to other patrons unnecessarily." "Having spoken to the landlord of my local pub today when collecting a takeaway, he advises that the guidelines they have are to keep the details for 21 days and dispose of them." "Data protection legislation (in the UK, GDPR is implemented by the DPA 2018) applies to all personal data collected, immediately from when it's collected. The time element only relates to retention - the retention period should be no longer than necessary, and for this purpose (given that the quarantine period is 14 days) I can see no reasonable justification for keeping it longer than that." "Oh that'll be stacks of personal data in the rubbish bin then. Mr Mouse it is then!" "I would not (for example) expect a small business such as a pub to have a rigorous procedure to shred each day’s sheets exactly 14 days on." "Marston's have the correct approach - leave a pen and paper on the bar for anyone silly enough who want's to go along with the nonsense - mind you they will probably be horrified at having to use a communal pen!"

Has anybody else been asked to volunteer to take part in a Covid19 testing exercise? I received a letter which asked me to go online and fill out my details, age, sex employment status etc etc. A couple of days later a testing kit dropped through my letter box with explicit instructions on how to use it. I followed the instructions and then photographed the result and emailed it back to the NHS. I proved negative and also had no antibodies so I'm all clear. Phil

Rog This is true, but it's sad that people working the pub trade, who have faced one onslaught after another over the last 15 years or so are now being faced with an insurmountable obstacle. I expect Magnetman will be able to expand on this but the Government clearly do not want the lower orders to congregate in pubs and foment dissent when they could be staying indoors receiving State information from the television.

You misunderstand ... I tire of his posting negative stuff constantly ... pubs are optional ... if you don't wish to 'play the game' don't go.
It's like people queuing to get into Tesco's complaining to me about others going shopping ... we all have to accept current limitations and move on don't we ?

Pubs need us! Il be going, as for giving them my details, no difference to when I’ve booked a table in a restaurant in the past. Also, I doubt the details will be taken at many pubs, and certainly not for more than a couple of weeks.

Yeah but I want to go to pubs without giving them all my personal information. It's bad enough with the Police knowing where you have been, with mobile phone operators freely handing the info over to them.

Phil My dad did - he "waited" to do the blood test until his bad cold had cleared up lol Anyway - it came out as a negative and he sent them the photo to prove it.
