It's not like that at all. If they operate a clothing factory then they have to make clothes. They have bills to pay, rent, rates, insurance. Their workers have mortgages, council tax, gas and electricity bills to pay. Do you think the bank or the council will say "Don't worry about that payment, we'll write it off, we understand that if you aren't receiving any money then you can't pay our bill" ?

sometimes he reminds me of that asshole Trump who can't even be bothered to read his daily briefing memos, but still makes stupid observations about what is happening outside his own little bubble.

No, I also go along with Stabby's outlook - but I do find myself sitting on the fence with this coronavirus issue as, if you suggest it could be all some big hoax, eg:
"These companies have been waiting for an excuse to cut their work force"
"The jobs outlook is worse than many realise. In summer seasonal employment normally cuts unemployment. Its increasing this summer and will only increase further later in the year. UK productivity is woeful and as output decreases, employers will address this by cutting more jobs. And as we've seen from Airbus, its not just 'low' skilled jobs that are going. Then in Jan 2021 we will suffer the results of the 2016 madness and down we go. Boris's panic attack with his 'build, build, build, outburst is not a plan, just an empty slogan. Covid is just the protagonist to bring to head all of the toxins inherent in our economy. This is NOT a blip."
..then you are reminded that thousands have died of 'the virus' and that it was important not to overburden the NHS so that 'the curve could be flattened.'
After three months of this nonsense, it's still not clear what this 'virus' is, there isn't going to be some magic vaccine, bleach and other cheap medicines already on the shelves are no cure, some people have been prepared to self-quarantine and be cautious whilst others couldn't care less with their raves and gatherings in vast numbers, and that it looks like the UK will end up as a minor principality of the new Chinese Empire. Britain still has some minerals that the Chinese will find useful, many Quislings to kow-tow and hand over the keys providing their palms are crossed, and a ready reasonably-educated population of slaves. How are the Black Lives Matter protests going in Hong Kong?

So yesterday 230k new cases reported of the virus, the UK has refused to join the EU scheme to purchase and control the eventual vaccine, why you may ask? well its because its us most likely to develop it is the answer and its us that will be given it first, the EU plan is to spread it around the whole of the EU treating the most vulnerable first, which is laudable but would that really happen? Me I would treat us first and then the commonwealth countries and protectorates as they are the countries that really need it and we will need them in the future as increasingly it looks like we will be leaving the EU with no deal so friends first would be my thoughts other views welcome

Would you be happy with another country following your thoughts and excluding the UK?
My view global pandemic/economy means a global response to any vaccine - by all means treat your own vulnerable first but not treat your whole population before considering as many other countries as possible - sort of what has been proposed by the EU (the proposal goes further than EU countries).

I don’t share your faith(hope) that the U.K. is likely to come up with the first vaccine. Dozen of countries are working on vaccines. If this virus has shown us anything, it has shown that we can’t just shut ourselves off from the rest of the world. As for a Brexit no deal, god help us should that happen. I just don’t understand why some people are so keen on being little Englanders.

Not going to quote anybody as Julian says natural immunity in some case wears off in 3 months according to tests, so me its this country first, otherwise the media would have a field day with the government! Fingers crossed that multiple countries come up with the vaccine and the whole world can be vaccinated quickly

It’s more scare story’s that always include words such as may, could or might. In this case it’s not even what’s said. I wish people would stop listening to all the media hype. Facts right now are that we have a few hundred new infections a day in the U.K. lockdown is being lifted more everyday. I doubt this virus even comes in the top ten causes of death this year.

230k new infections that are known about yesterday! so that could be anything from 300 to 500k thats a lot of infections for something that isnt serious, I think we are living in interesting times, and the source for the lost immunity was a full scale test reported on by the BBC so who knows how good it is but I think it might be right

I would hope whatever country develops a vaccine ensures every lab that can make it regardless of where it is is given the data... That it is not then sold at ridiculously inflated prices That for one the needs of people take precedent over profit grabbers.....

What would be the point of vaccinating all British citizens living in the UK whilst Chinese arrive in their thousands on planes bringing in more of the virus, plus their special strains for Waves 2, 3, 4 and 5 ? If the coronavirus doesn't get you, the radiation from the 5G masts will.
