"Russia will close all border crossings on March 30, the government said on Saturday, tightening restrictions after the country reported its biggest one-day rise in new coronavirus cases.
The authorities said they so far had recorded 1,264 confirmed cases, an increase of 228 in 24 hours, and ordered that all vehicle, rail and pedestrian checkpoints, as well as the country's maritime borders, be closed from Monday.
Russia has already grounded all international flights and declared next week a non-working week — which does not apply to workers from key businesses like pharmacies and supermarkets — in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.
Moscow, Russia's worst-affected area, has shut all cafes, restaurants and shops, apart from those selling food and medicine, until April 5."

BoJo said in that video that rail usage was down by 95% but I can see the West Coast Main Line out of by boat window and the Pendolinos are still coming past every five minutes or so.

Well now, this could be worth a watch? Borders that were 'impossible to close' from a constant influx of cheap labour can actually be closed very suddenly - when there's a chance the 'elite' may get sick from a virus:

Yes but due to social distancing regulations perhaps there are only 1 or 2 people per carriage where normally there would be several dozen. You can't really underestimate the overall effect of social distancing. Social distancing is the new norm. Nobody can ever get away from this in future. Getting up close and personal with people is a history. Which is good.

" COVID-19 = China Originated Virus In December-2019 "
" I am thinking that this virus might force lefties to accept that there is such a thing as objective reality, for example, all the deaths so far have been men and women, so far no other pro nouns have need used to describe the dead."

I believe it's ok if it's just two doing it as long as you are 2 metres away (in all directions including up and down) from any other humans.

We're by the train line with very regular services and close enough to see they're all empty (ours are local trains with clear windows). Good that the staff are in work AND isolated too ... but a fairly pointless exercise. However they do bring an air of normality to each day Rog

The supermarkets are so infested with this contagion that they have to have a door man asking customers if they are ready to die.

Good site to keep yourself informed of what's going on on the railways: www.railforums.co.uk/forums/covid-19-coronavirus-discussion.174/"If everyone perfectly follows the 'don't catch it' strategy then what happens when the lockdown is lifted - as it will have to be eventually - if we stopped the virus so effectively that almost no-one yet has any immunity to it... and then the someone brings the virus back in, for example perhaps from another country?"

"The Observer today was suggesting that our fruit would go to waste if we didn't fly in the usual pickers from Eastern Europe. But the Times yesterday made the suggestion (more sensible in my view) that some of the many furloughed workers would be happy to do this as long as they could retain their 80% pay and right to return to the original job."
"Maybe we could use any senior school pupils who fancy a bit of money whilst there’s no school? After all, their exams have been cancelled so they’ll not exactly be doing much."
How many kids lounging about at home playing with their X-boxes? Instead of doing any homework? Off to the farms with 'em!

"Dominic Cummings has had to self isolate now after displaying symptoms" www.itv.com/news/2020-03-30/dominic-cummings-coronavirus/"Friday is also believed to be the last time Mr Cummings was seen on camera, when he was spotted running away from 10 Downing Street after the PM was diagnosed." You can run but you cannot hide!

"EasyJet grounds its ENTIRE fleet of 330 planes due to coronavirus - 10 days after it handed shareholders a £174million payout" "The grounding of its gigantic fleet came just over a week after the airline pressed ahead with a £174million payout to shareholders - days after calling for a state loan to help them survive - and one third of the cash went to founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou." "The airline said that it might need lines of credit or loans from the government to cope with the coronavirus crisis. It insisted last night, however, that this would not affect the payout, £60 million of which will go to its founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou " and: "There you have it. Fired and chucked out of their accommodation, with no notice and no lay-off pay. Yes, at this awful time, the milk of human kindness overflows. This group’s hotels have a poor reputation for quality at the best of times, but its management really shot itself in both feet with this public relations disaster. Oh, naturally, it wasn’t THEIR fault; they were ‘acting on government advice’, the weaselling twats. No room at the inn for the workers then, find yourselves a stable somewhere. Of course, having generated a media shitstorm for themselves, the group issued a retraction. Now these letters must have been issued as part of a management process; somebody somewhere gave the order. But apparently it was all a simple mistake, apparently, a dastardly ‘administrative error’. That’s alright then, we all believe you, don’t we?"

"So where is Old Bill in all this. Ah yes harassing lone dog walkers in remote areas and polluting lakes in beauty spots. Can't make this sheet up!" Commuters pack onto a Jubilee line train towards Central London today as workers are forced to use busy Tube services
