I don't know who runs worldometers.
Out of respect for my elders I will believe you.
I always try, with my own children, to make them understand that what I say is basically not worth worrying about. Most of it is quite light hearted and it seems to be working as they are always giggling and having fun. However they do know I can tell them what to do and I have never threatened either of them at all in any way.
It's important that the younger generations do know that serious shit is happening in the world but I also think they should be allowed to be children and enjoy themselves.
I am incredibly lucky that this particular event is happening when my kids are under ten years old. Yes they are aware and know exactly what is going on but probably a fortunate age for it.
We are still going out, for essential exercise and for the beer acquisition protocol solutions.
It would take more than a letter from the prime minister for us to stop going out with the children. They need outdoor exercise. No playgrounds and no contact with other people but outdoors is essential.
Inner east London has been like a ghost town today though so maybe we are a bit unusual or everyone else with children has buggered off to their parents houses ..

That's the one with the scales that turn the graph curves upside down making it look like things are heading for the better. Gullible greed blinded small investors are having their pockets picked. Please explain. The scale gradually changes from 10 people in the bottom "inch" to 5,000 in the top "inch" style of thing. Exponential? If the scales up the sides were linear, the plotted lines would be heading north at an ever increasing rate. Simply by adjusting that scale, one can make the curves curve in any direction. Up and down again or accelerating like a moon rocket. To be fair I came to the conclusion that the graphs themselves were the best way to represent the information comparing various countries and be able to see any difference at all, but IIRC the article waffled on as if the whole virus thing was under control and on the down turn - look at the pretty graphs - but not too closely.

I liked the graphs, ignored the commentary...

Logarithmic graphs do tend to indicate a reduction quicker than a linear graph but as I understand it, and I don't, an epidemic such as this is recognised as having a pattern.
It won't just "kill everyone". It will go through a relatively well recognised pattern over time.
People who know about this sort of shit will use logarithmic graphs to examine the math side of it while being unconcerned with the bodies piling up.
It's a mathematics story at the end of the day.
That's why they all go on about modelling.
It's not overly thin young women and men mincing along a cat walk, or someone making scale replicas.
it is a mathematics thing.
The great thing about bringing maths into it is that so many people are either shit at or afraid of maths. Or both.
Blinded by the science.

CIA then.
They have quite good advertising algorithms as they keep throwing red diesel adverts at me.
Mind readers.

It could be argued that the spread of the virus 1-2-4-8-16... is stripped out nicely by the scale which makes the graphs an honest representation.

I think the only meaningful stat which really matters as regards to C19 is how many more people die than normal over a particular timeframe. Last time I looked even that data was suspect. I really hope our government wont go down that route.

Alternatively - the scale hel[s show what is really happening and isn't designed to scare the shit out of everyone...
Sometimes there is a need to scare the shit out of people, but when it comes to money there is a need to protect it ... (even at the cost of people)...

That's what I said. I'm more than happy to express multiple view points.

Sadly true. The monetary system is quite odd really. It does create an air of stability in a world of greed. But those in charge still suffer from greed at times. To be fair some philanthropists do give a lot back to the world, but mainly by 'paying' for others to do that work. There is a lovely story I heard about a local MP taking food around to a pensioner who couldn't get any food. Whether it's PR, kindness or a bit of both, at least he did something (and it didn't take much time out of his day). I rest my hope in those we elected as I doubt any of us would want the job.
