Why shouldn't they stay on site for a while? Accommodation can be built quickly - tents if nothing else. Why should they? -to save having to go home. Saves petrol and time. Not everyone is married with kids. In this time of crisis, it makes sense to have some efficiency. At the bus garage where I work (worked!?) there is an apartment tacked on, and I could have happily slept and showered and cooked there if ever I had been needed 'permanently' or 'on standby'. In fact I have slept there a few times when the trek home has been too daunting with icy roads, or for other reasons. Nurses/doctors/medical persons needed on site 24/7 should be looked after 24/7. Have you never watched M*A*S*H ? KGH got rid of their staff canteen donkeys years ago The WRVS shop was wound up too. There is not enough staff car parking let alone anywhere to build a tented village. while this may not be true for all trusts, I’d be surprised if KGH was the exception to the norm! Well... perhaps the Army should re-stock the supermarket shelves and assist NHS staff to do their shopping without having to queue amongst coughing old folk? It can be done if people really want to. I do hope the NHS isn't wasting it's money at the moment on 'health tourists' from abroad wanting bigger boobs or face jobs.

There are hotels nearby - these could be requisitioned by the Government in a flash, for NHS workers at 'the coal face'. No, I would not have slept in a tent with temperatures below zero (down to minus 31 Centigrade). Although, yes, I have slept in tents with temperatures below zero. The Finnish Military does this every winter. They even have sauna tents, where you can have a sauna and wash. Brits are full of negativity and "can't do".

My lads friend had his freezer die so he called up the shop to see what they had in stock for same day delivery, answer nothing available. Seems the panic buyers have bought them all to store all the food they are hoarding. Unbelievable!!! It seems odd that people think there would still be a functioning electricity network. I know some people have a few tons of diesel under the house and a couple of generators but suspect they are quite unusual. Or has all the talk of climate change leading to collapse of normal society changed people recently? In terms of a functioning government I'm pretty sure the lights would go out before the food runs out.

one has to wonder how much pasta Mr Johnson has stored away. Did you see the photo of the pallet of toilet paper being delivered to 10, Downing Street? This is the bloke to lecture us on 'morality'? Serial-humper/adulterer who arranges for journalists to get beaten up? Do you know how many people work in 10 Downing Street? About 300.

They are not the Finnish military, we're talking cleaners, orderlies, office staff, not just nurses and doctors. If I were offered a tent in a car park, I'd say "Are you having a laugh? This is March, I'm going home to my nice warm bed, I've been working 24hours non-stop.

Now, Charles, will you be closing your restaurant in an effort to stem people catching the Covid-19 coronavirus?

I read somewhere that a load of Brits were stuck in Peru quite badly on account of no transport out.
Quite hazy memory these days so might have got the wrong geography it could have been Colombia.

It would have been a wise move early on for the PM to do some sort of proper bonding with the people. Something like asking ordinary people to challenge anyone clearly overshopping. Yes it could end up in fights but pressure from other shoppers could have been quite an effective way to stop it. Obviously the supermarkets like the business so it's a bit of an awkward one plus one has to wonder how much pasta Mr Johnson has stored away. I agree with this. I showed restraint today with the bloke swearing at the poor checkout girl but I've now decided that was a mistake, I should have intervened. I will next time, to whatever level is appropriate.

And... begging retired (old) health workers back to work? Old "at risk" people working in hospital? More nuttiness. Maybe they are viewed as expendable, maybe not, but they are many times more likely to be very ill if they catch it putting further strain on the NHS, though I guess they can just grab a bed and an oxygen bottle while they're at work... S'ok my eldest son maintains they won't want me till desperate....not sure but think that could be an insult... i don't care
