They were actually a lot cheaper than the small 1/2 inch balls due to my close relationship with the scrap man.
Unfortunately the recent social distancing advice makes it quite awkward to get hold of his balls.
I have enough in stock for about 35 hours.

This expression "social distancing" got me intrigued.
Apparently "Social distance refers to the level of acceptance people have of others outside of their own social group or class. This level of acceptance is defined by their general feelings toward others, and the amount of social interaction they have with people whose characteristics are outside of their social norm."
I suspect that the term "social distancing" in the current emergency is a direct translation from French.
When the shit hits the fan firstly buy fans then start talking French.

I can confirm that the black widow catapult even with the big 1/2 inch steel balls does not faze them . Where is that dynamite? I can confirm that marbles are pretty good ammunition for a black widow. Not sure if you can still get them though.

Dozens and dozens of people out on the sunny towpath today - some alone, many in pairs and amazingly several in groups.
Isn't the social distance exclusion zone supposed to be 2 metres? This is impossible to maintain as the towpath here is about half that width anyway. Every one of these walkers and cyclists has passed within a couple of feet of my open bow and side hatch. There is absolutely no way they can pass each other within the prescribed distance.
I am trying to adhere to the rules but they just won't let me!
Seriously, it is worrying and selfish behaviour. Do people not watch/read the news? Where are the CRT notices when you need them?
"Please keep your distance"?

Only the groups are the real issue, if you live with someone no harm in going for a walk together.
Try to think of the 2 metre rule as a guideline to be adhered to whenever possible - if it becomes an absolute strict rule then you will have to co-ordinate all your movements with any other boaters who might want to walk along the towpath - impossible.
Most people are trying their best whilst trying to remain sane......

Not sure of your circumstances but just a suggestion.

You can walk about with people you live with so if you see families and couples that's ok. Makes sense to me. Around here people smile, nod, keep there mouths shut and are probably holding their breath! All exercise in a public space that involves heavy breathing should be banned. That would suit me, I'm a walker and I don't rush.

Joggers out this am..all solo with staggered distances, I had to keep climbing up on the edge of the cliff path to maintain my 2 metres..on the plus side gave me more exercise. Day spent sorting out pictures to make a collage...I like it suspect won't be pro enough for daughter...Still they are not coming in my house for months.. Its now framed and up on the wall... Ive also started typing out my travel journal. Still lots to keep me busy..... Oh I noticed the queues waiting for the supermarkets..dunno how many allowed in at a time but they stretched quite a distance..this was 8am..

Down this way (as far as rumours go), each supermarket/shop has set it's own limit on numbers allowed in, then it is one out and one in. Apparently many people are saying 'I'm not queuing, we don't really need anything'!..............

I went to a co-op where they had put tape down to indicate social distancing arrangements and a notice saying they support social distancing.
That's good except the fact that the third line of tape was exactly in the centre of the access door to the shop and the aisle was about 4ft wide...
I moved away from the zone towards a young woman who glanced over her shoulder as it to say "are you failing to adhere to social distancing rules out of devilment or just looking at my legs?"
Fact remains it is impossible to adhere to social distancing rules in small shops.
It's nice to see people generally exercising social distancing in public. Most people want to do the right thing which is very encouraging.
I find people exercise social distancing with me due to my unusual appearance anyway so nowadays they tend to try to get 4 metres away which has the potential to cause accidents.

The little shop down the road..its the downstairs of a house sort of 2 rooms in one allows 1 person in at a time. They have a table in front of the counter which makes being served tad interesting as u don't quite know where to put stuff. However they r all trying to do what they can and apart from the 2 local winos everyone follows their rules.....

In my old patch most stores are limiting entry to 3 or 4 people max. Seems to control it well even if people are still complaining.

Lets face it some folks will always moan whatever happens....u wait till next lot of rain n windy weather suspect many will find whatever they intended queueing to buy they don't really need
