it appears that the majority here have more money than me ... here you are talking about " percentage returns" whilst Capt Ellis here juggles divorce and covid enforced debts ... please send funds to mark@narrowboatellis.com No donation too large Edit to add - I'm HALF joking... ;-) Edited (again) to add so as not to offend anyone - THE above is intended as humor. At the age if 42 I had mortgage on a house for my ex-wife and the boat. Got some work and went from there. 25 years later life is much better.

Got bit of savings which r reducing as bank of mum again open.... I'm so glad I did my Grand Voyage as suspect it'll be the last big one as things are panning out. I have absolutely no regrets about going, no feeling that the money 'should' have been used for a,b,c or d I did that one for me....

I just won £150 on premium bonds so I’m a happy bunny! The trouble with PBs is the average payout % they quote doesn't mesh with reality, they are wildly exaggerated. There are plenty of studies on the internet to confirm this. I must be odd then Over the last 2 years have had a win £25/50 every month except one, 3 or 4 good months with wins of £125+ and one of £1100 averages out about 4%

I'd settle for that! All I really hope for is to slow down the devaluing of my pot. I'm completely risk averse, can't afford not to be.

As regards savings, P & O have more of my money than I have myself. I chose cash refund rather than 125% credit, as we don't know when or where we would be able to go, or whether we will still be able to go. At any rate, I reckon the enhancement will be swallowed up by price increases anyway.

I had about £100 before that from 1980 and before that £4 from the 1950s. That £4 won me £5000 in 1978 You do need a decent holding the £100 only got one small win in 35years.

This morning's gem from Dave Little Hello. I just sawed into the side of my boat. The wound is 35mm high, 4mm wide and 12mm deep. Two questions: 1. What’s the best fix that I can pint over for a nice repair? 2. What’s a good quick fix before it rains? Thanks all.

Like the chap I knew that was complaining he could hear water gurgling at night (his boat never left the moorings ..... ever) and the local know it all told him that he had a double skinned boat and that water had got into the space and that he needed to cut a hole in the inner skin so he could empty it. He borrowed a drill and a 3" diameter holesaw and that night after he left the pub he neatly cut a hole through the floor ...... to expose the mud underneath It was low tide then but he spent the next few hours holding a plastic bottle jammed tight in the hole until the tide went down again. Oh how we laughed

If that is 4% per year then you have about £56k in bonds. Which is why you win a lot more and a lot more often than I do.

Maximum holding for premium bonds is £50k currently.
I've still not won the 2 million but it's never too late (until it actually IS too late).
