Just a quick one... I've been a bot quiet of late - for various different reasons. The main reason though - with a heavy heart I type this in memory of my best four legged friend. When it all began back in Feb 2009 The hardest thing to accept is no more will we get shots like the ones that follow. One of the last weekends he was down the club - he must have spent a huge part of his life down here. I was 29 when he blundered into my life as a little over 7 month old pup, now here at 41 he passed just a couple of weeks shy of his 12th birthday - more than a quarter of my life spent with the best pet and companion you could hope for, the birth of my daughter when he was 6 was the making of him - they were utterly inseparable. Without doubt this is the hardest one to loose, he was poorly for only a very short time, waking up the next morning unable to use his right hind leg, things moved swiftly between 06:00 and 07:45 that morning, nothing prepares you for having to make that decision, but the grief and heartache is eased a lite knowing he didn't suffer a great deal of pain. So there we have it - 11 1/2 years, 500 plus images, countless videos and a head full of memories. Farewell buddy.

Gazza you did the best for your mate, all pet owners if they are good and responsible do the same. Another will be along shortly as they are for me what makes life living, Taff is sat in the shade whilst I type this, just waiting for the next person to pooch and get stroked by, I am sorry for your loss as it really is like losing a child sometimes

I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear your sad news, Gazza, . . . and I think I know just how you'll all be feeling right now.
Take heart, though, . . pals like that never really leave you, . . they're too much a part of you, and you of them, for that ever to happen.

Rudyard Kipling - 1865-1936
There is sorrow enough in the natural wayFrom men and women to fill our day;And when we are certain of sorrow in store,Why do we always arrange for more?Brothers and Sisters, I bid you bewareOf giving your heart to a dog to tear.Buy a pup and your money will buyLove unflinching that cannot lie—Perfect passion and worship fedBy a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.Nevertheless it is hardly fairTo risk your heart for a dog to tear. When the fourteen years which Nature permitsAre closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,And the vet’s unspoken prescription runsTo lethal chambers or loaded guns,Then you will find—it’s your own affair—But… you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear. When the body that lived at your single will,With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!).When the spirit that answered your every moodIs gone—wherever it goes—for good,You will discover how much you care,And will give your heart to a dog to tear. We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,When it comes to burying Christian clay. Our loves are not given, but only lent,At compound interest of cent per cent.Though it is not always the case, I believe,That the longer we’ve kept ’em, the more do we grieve:For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,A short-time loan is as bad as a long—So why in—Heaven (before we are there)Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
Thought about you this morning @gazza as we passed a narrow boat called 'Dark side of the moon' with full paintwork to match.
Sorry the old boy's gone, but Rudyard Kipling had it right.
Hope the dwarf is okay ... first big loss for her no doubt.
Rog

She has a pet memory book she is filling in, a mate of mine had a superb picture put on Canvas, her three best friends in the photo - Bonehead, Erica and Crystal!, it was taken on a weekend away last year. One of my all time fave pictures of him now hangs in the house never to be forgotten!

Very sorry to hear your news Gazza, very sorry indeed. As Roger has said, hope the dwarf is ok, he's been her companion the whole of her life.

Thanks everyone, I'm off to do battle with a mid 80's Viking 26 domestic wiring, that will take my mind of things for a while!
I'll reply individual later on.

Cracking old dog, he even told me when he was going to bite me, he did, and was then mortified that he had! Lucy was the making of him, he calmed down and used to come and sit between my knees to have his ears tickled! Almost Lucy's Old Shep.

Condolences (which never sounds like the right word!) from me too. We have had pets that have gone to Pet Heaven so have some idea what it's like.
