Many people who know me consider I semi-retired aged 38, have rarely worked more than 4 months a year since (it did help being paid up to Β£700 a day). Sadly the money will run out soon so might have to go back to work for at least 6 months a year. is this the post that Foxy misquoted or have i missed stuff. i hate it when he changes peoples words. I guess as others say working winter months wouldn't be so bad. It's the post that Foxy changed yes.

I need to be busy doing things, either working or doing things for myself,
(but not just things for myself, that can make you into a hermit ) ...... it keeps brain and body active and life an interesting place.
Extra money can be nice but I have very low overheads and inexpensive tastes, a decent bottle of wine now and again and some go juice for the battle wagon and that's about it Too many people retire and like a broken down car just go into "limp mode" I sometimes listen to people talking and think "bloody hell, I can give you nearly 10 years !!!" I just dread a time when I can't work or do jobs

I enjoy the interaction with people at work ... it's easy to just see life from your own perspective so hearing others views and seeing their lifestyles is great fun. I've mentioned before that at this time of year as the days are shortening, we find it good to have work to keep us busy and help pay a few bills. By the time we're back on board, days are growing longer and spring is just over the horizon. It's not just about the money ... I hope we remain fit enough to do the christmas temp jobs for many years to come Rog

When we sold our business 5 years ago, we thought we would be bored and back working by now. Never happened, most unlikely now after whatβs happened this year. As ever, vive la difference.

I retired aged 17 and never intend to do any work. The paper round was enough for me. I believe in life you have to recognise your own weaknesses and I'm convinced if I had opted to go into work it all would have led to terrible things due to the ruthless efficiency. There would have been thousands of redundancies. I would not want that on my conscience.
The money would have been bloody handy though !!

That's interesting. A quick delete and straight back on with no email verification.
Interesting software.

It must be hard for you young ones, having to work. I've retired but time now weighs heavily, I'm not enjoying my days but I'm aware only me can change things. Oh Patty, that's a sad thing to read. Now you are retired the world is your Lobster and you have a great distraction in Freya. Make the most of every day because you never know what's just around the corner. Phil

Phil That is true ..Freya's ok its some of the rest that I'm finding difficult.... Once travel out of area allowed we shall just up n go places and the stuff thats bothering me will resolve.. I've never been a static sort of person...the great outdoors is where I'm most content. I will get there, I have just allowed others to dictate my life too much and its niggling. Guess Freyas gotta grow a bit more for the roaming to become a reality.

We greatly miss our GSD Duffy, he would NOT walk on a lead because his herding instinct was so strong. Duffy would beside me and after a few paces swing behind me to walk beside Chris and then repeat and repeat, he was keeping us from getting lost. If you were with us you would be included. A bit norty but sometimes I would slip behind a tree which gave him the dilemma of should he keep his eye on Chris or run back to find me. I always had a slip lead to hand not because we didn't trust him but for other peoples peace of mind. He was a 75kg male who came out of a Crufts Obedience winner. Mould Freya to suit you and your reward will be a cracking dog. Oh I got him for the cost of a sack of dog food from a guy who had 3 guard dogs one being his mum and none were neutered. We will come through this .... eventually Phil

Patty, try to think of the good things in your life, like Freya & your lovely nearby landscape..Would you really want to be back at work now ? I took early retirement from teaching at 56,6 years ago.I loved teaching, but got fed up with never-ending paperwork & the fact that the children only seemed to be seen as data percentages rather than real individuals. We've done volunteering for CRT (including the Heritage fleet) & vollying with a boating for the disabled group. We'll be looking to do similar work in our new home area.

No I would not want to be back at work and if there were not the expectations I'd look at volunteering..however its freedom I need and the wide open spaces...I will get there. Its just been a bit tough these last few months. I used to do quite a lot of volunteer work for Age.uk ..filling out Attendance and Disability forms and also helped people facing court with support. Nowadays I wouldn't do any of that as its mentally quite demanding.

Off lead she bounces along and comes as soon as she's called...Obv in streets she has to be on as she's still very young . Molly we couldn't let off as she'd run for freedom and ignored all attempts to get her back. Freya zooms in at first call....I find it quite amazing how good recall is.
