France is a beautiful country but the French ? Well, I don't know but good music comes out of France sometimes The French are ok, just very different to us Brits. I watched a French serial on tv a month or two ago 'The Final Wave' which was loaded with arrogance and misogyny. They happily included sex scenes in which youths were involved. After every trauma, and there were plenty, everyone sat down and ate a nice meal together, including wine. This could never have happened in Britain. No way could have a sexually powerful 16 year old girl have appeared in a British production, without the nymph being portrayed as being at least as powerful as a feminist as she was as a temptress. I think the French have got a lot of things right in life. Not to the same extent as Italians, who have really nailed it, but both nations could teach us Brits a thing or two about how to best live our lives.

So this Gove geyser (scary bloke) says in response to the obvious "Covid passport" question that it is already up to pubs and restaurants who they wish to admit to their premises. Is that true? Can pubs and restaurants refuse to serve black people, dwarfs etc? I'm sure it's bollocks but he says it twice in this video clip www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55143484He is directly suggesting here that "private businesses" can limit who accesses their services. Ok yes there are age and in some cases dress limitations, behaviour etc but is he really suggesting that pubs would investigate if someone has been vaccinated ? This doesn't seem to go anywhere particularly good. Forged C19 vaccination certificate anyone ?

I'm quite intrigued by these "mostly male" persons.
Is that perhaps a group of seriously overweight gay blokes who seem to have the soft protuberant bodies adhering to the thorax which is usually associated with females?

Bloke on LBC radio this morning said that the BCG vaccine was compulsory until 2005.
I'm sure that is incorrect. I never had a BCG vaccine.
Anyway making it "compulsory" doesn't mean literally it usually just means that there are financial or other penalties for non compliance.
It's very bad news if private businesses bring in requirements for entry.
This goes to very bad places regardless of Covid it is a serious bad situation if that happens.
Bad shit.

Is it very likely that businesses will turn people and their cash away for any reason, once we're all open again ?
That's if there are any businesses left of course.
The situation is ridiculous enough without scare stories circulating.

Sometimes I'm worried that the vaccine, rushed as it is, will turn the population into a bunch of mindless, irrational zombies who lash out at anything perceived as a threat. At other times I think it will make no difference whatsoever.

"Back Benchers, Ministers, Opposition M.P.s, The House of Lords… all just self-interested Windbags. They couldn’t give a shite about the people who they are meant to represent… it’s all look out for Number One and silly partisan politics aimed at damaging their “opponents”. They would rather the Country failed than actually come together in a crisis and act for the common good… better to just try and score cheap political points. I detest our political class and would happily see their heads on spikes." “It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money. Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter’d your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth? Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil’d this sacred place, and turn’d the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress’d, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!” Oliver Cromwell – April 20, 1653 However, Cromwell was mostly annoyed at what he saw as a lack of piety. Governance, good or otherwise, was wholly secondary to the Puritan desire for a new Jerusalem. I'd state the source but there's no need - it was me.

"Wales brings in 'immunity passports': People will get ID-style cards to prove they have had coronavirus vaccine amid fears pubs and shops will demand to see them before letting people in" "vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi suggested earlier this week that although the jabs will be voluntary, businesses could ask to see proof before allowing people in." Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford tweeted: 'We all must continue to follow the rules' "Just make people wear the Star of David on their arms. We are heading down a road with serious implications." "You won't even be allowed into a hospital next for treatment unless you've had the jab." "the very first vaccines are destined for the UK, even though they are produced overseas. So... why are people in the countries where they are produced not receiving them first? Germany has said that it is not prepared to roll them out until there has been further testing........ i.e. the Brits are the real guinea pigs in all of this." I think the Germans are hopping mad, because our great leaders, have somehow decided that it is the UK that is leading humanity out of the wastelands. Can’t say I blame them. They produce the first vaccine, and we attempt to take all the glory.

It is beholden on us who enjoy pubs to ensure the survival of as many as possible ... once they're open. I certainly intend to play my part ... masks ... visors ... table service ... whatever. I'll be 'spreading the love' Rog

"Covid train travel checks by North Yorkshire police People travelling into North Yorkshire by train at the weekend are being warned they'll be asked where they're from and why they're visiting.
North Yorkshire's in tier two - high alert - coronavirus restrictions but surrounding areas, including the East Riding and South and West Yorkshire, are covered by tier three - very high alert -restrictions.
Supt Mike Walker from North Yorkshire Police said: "Those travelling into railway stations will see an increased presence by British Transport Police.
"It's our job to engage with the public and find out the purpose of their journeys, especially if we see groups of people arriving.
"The more we can encourage people to only travel when necessary, the better."
Meanwhile police have been stopping motorists from outside North Yorkshire attempting to cross into the county and checking they're not "inadvertently bringing coronavirus with them".
The North Yorkshire force is also using number plate recognition technology to police the regulations."
People are allegedly being told to get on a train and go straight back home, and cars are being turned around. I can see this generating a backlash, it is not illegal to travel, just not advised. And surely the use of ANPR for this reason is illegal?
