If it's a ships boat then it depends on the material.
Steel = baked bean tin might have had overplating. Aluminium = could be really good GRP = Heavy duty boat might be really good Wood = is it still afloat ?
They do vary and as most of them were DIY topsides often they are a bit naff.

An old ships lifeboat or an ex RNLI lifeboat, great, a worthwhile project. One of those fekin horrible orange things NO walk away quickly. Was it you that asked on CWDF about one of those orange things?π

Welcome to the premier boating, mopeding, sports car racing, and vacuously pointless content site on the net Other's opinions count for nothing on the boat you fancy ... do you think it's worth it ? Wouldn't be my choice to live in on canals, but my opinion's worthless. Good luck boat hunting. Rog

are you looking for an opinion poll so that, given a few "yes" votes you can feel justified in purchasing one of those monstrosities and dumping it on a stretch of water near you with little or no intention of cruising other that up and down a short stretch of waterway in order to pretend to satisfy CRT's guidelines for a boat with no permanent mooring?
have you no sense of heritage?
probably best if you do buy it and anchor it in an east coast creek somewhere where it will feel at home.

Dude, Ah so you escaped from CWDFβs blasting to come on here. Shame. I am also on CWDF so I know that you initially were asking about putting an ex oil rig nasty orange lifeboat on the N Oxford near Rubgy and were asking if you could just go up and down a bit every 14 days without having to go through any locks (because a lifeboat is too wide for the locks). You also have 3 houses so you donβt even get the βdown and out sleep on a lifeboat or else itβs a cardboard boxβ sympathy vote.

CRT/CBS might have one of those orange ones for sale. Sitting on hardstanding at a farm near Chester... Of course the Google sat view is not that recent and I am not authorised to use the SIS live sat view for something as unimportant as a forum.

Although the rig boats are gopping I've been told the engines are worth having, low hours and well maintained. Re RNLI lifeboats, if its an ILB (IB1 or Atlantic) just out of service you should be able to get a good history from its old station. If it's an ALB, for that price, I would assume it would be a bit of a basket case but still possible to get history depending on its age. Edit-Just seen Telemachus post so last part is probably of no interest.

Note to other posters, you should look up the word βultracrepidarianβ because itβs his favourite.

Well you learn something new every day. Must admit it sounded like something you catch off a toilet seat.

Hi Life Boat Yes or No Please no hate or Negative. Has anyone got one and can give me advice. I've been offered one for Β£7000 Nowt wrong with spending your money on these boats, just ignore the nay sayers and send the money to my account, I can get you one for far less, and, yes, they are ideal for glamping. I have one for AtoB, and it's a real amt, dude.

It's better than dude.Dude makes me want to punch something or someone... Agreed. βDudeβ is also one of his favourite words! I didnβt need to look that one up though, I recall it from βBill and Tedβs ..(whatever)β 1980s films.
