I dunno if cost of living escalating ...my grocery and vino bills prob higher cos son here for few weeks ..he cooks and I'm certainly eating better food when I'm here solo However nil petrol costs..I've only driven about 200 miles since i brought car last July Nil travel expenses.. Not buying new clothes/shoes etc as no point Heating bills will be higher as Ive been using electric heater cos still not got gas sorted. Not having coffee n cake out... Think for me over all expenses lower though I do now have Freya....

I’m in shock Nick shops in Lidl. Jeff is more of a shop snob than I am, and for years we looked down on Lidaldi. But now we have seen the light and I t has to be said that some of their stuff is pretty good. But some is pretty awful - avoid their pies etc which are made from gristle and chemicals. But some of the bakery stuff is good and the wine is very good. Steaks are good for the money, about the same as Markies but 1/2 the price! Veg is good but fruit isn’t. Markies remains the best place for fruit. And I got a great set of drills from middlelidaldi.

All fare revenue now gets passed to the Gov. The Gov decides frequency of trains. The Gov bails out the private rail operators so dividends can still be paid. Situation at the moment, subject to change in the future... "The Government bails out the private operators" - not with their own money! It's a scam all throughout - and to frighten people into Staying Where They Are so the government knows exactly what they're up to. Or, rather, aren't. It does seem bizarre with trains running empty. In times of difficulty, the Gov's main priority is to maintain as much stability as possible and try to avoid chaos. Not saying our Gov has done a perfect job but it has avoided chaos.
Thankfully they haven't taken your advice.
Now the question is do I go to Tesco, Sainburys or Liddl later for a chance of a reduced priced chicken for Sunday roast - decisions, decisions. At least I'm still alive, allowed to make the choice and don't have to climb over dead bodies or avoid riots to get me choice of chicken.

So, let's get this straight, just because I've had the vaccine it means I can't grumble about other effects of Brexit. Bunch of psycophants. Yes Boris, No Boris, three bags full Boris!

I was kinda joking, there can’t be many people who at least don’t do part of their weekly shopping in Lidaldi. I use Aldi but then have to buy some stuff elsewhere. It’s like all supermarkets you can come out with good nutritional food or a load of unhealthy shit depending on your choices. Ps Aldi’s veggie pies are good.

In times of difficulty, the Gov's main priority is to ...save their own necks and grab as much cash as they can on the way out. Glad I don't live in your world...

, I think they run them, empty as they are, to provide an illusion of normality. It makes sense. Railways are part of the environment and have been for a long time. A lot longer than modern roads. Of course there is a chance that they don't like standing idle. Rusty rails, unused wheels there is a lot of hardware there which could degrade quite quickly if not used. Maybe it is cheaper to run the trains than to deal with problems caused by not running them. @armchair might know about this as he is bit of a railways man.

Not an engineer type, more operations but that has to take into account engineering stuff.
I doubt if many trains are operating just for engineering reasons, the engineers are more than capable of rotating trains around.
Trains are running to keep key workers and those that need to travel 'operational' - it's as simple as that - in my opinion.

Glad I don't live in your world... But you do. No we don't ... you delight in and build your world out of negativity, corruption, conflict, scepticism, grief and abuse. Meanwhile the rest of us delight in the good stuff. Seems fair to me, after all it's your choice Rog

Seems fair to me, after all it's your choice Rog I think you are being abused but have adopted Stockholm Syndrome. "Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response. It occurs when hostages or abuse victims bond with their captors or abusers. This psychological connection develops over the course of the days, weeks, months, or even years of captivity or abuse." You know the UK Government is abusing you, curtailing your rights, making you scared silly - but you are too frightened to be a 'social outcast' so must sing from the same hymn sheet. Altogether now: "All things bright and beautiful..." "Let's hide in our masks - the Virus won't find us in here!"

We've never noticed any reduction in your grumbling ... just highlighting the ironic nature of that specific grumble You're welcome. Rog

We used to go to Aldi&Lidl but for most of the last year have just been shopping online as we don't want to mix with anyone, it's bad enough having to see the click and collect or delivery man let alone other people. Just had a Higgidy veg pie for lunch, excellent🌚

I know variety is the spice of life but that’s taking things to extremes!
