I'm on board full time, with everything delivered, ignoring new clothes and bedding and other luxuries, I find the cost of deliveries from Morrisons difficult to restrict. Obviously, anyone can survive on Value Baked beans , cheapest white bread and lard. However, I'm trying to prime my body with a healthy and enjoyable diet, plenty of vits and minerals for physical health £50 per week. Alcohol and a few fancies for mental health, £21 per week on average. Costs include £2.50 top up bird food or cat food. Most of my bird food and cat food is bought online in bulk. I've got cost of deliveries to a minimum, £1.00 per week, I eat The Best Range, and use ' offers ' as much as I can, nevertheless every week I find I am tipping over the £10 a day budget. Not seen this mentioned elsewhere, but are we in 'inflation' mode? Is it the elephant in the political room? PS I've run now out of whisky , and have 48 hours before replenishment, there is no more wine, beer, gin, vodka, or lager. I can live on potatoes and butter plus a few other bits and pieces, mainly 'cos potatoes are my favourite food, Baked Hasselblad Fries Mashed Boiled Soup, with leek Fried mash (not hashed) Salad Potato salad Wedges and such like take a while, and are best made when the oven is on anyways: coat lightly in best available oil and spices which need used up.

Send the bill to your nearest leaver. It will ease once Boris' best ever trade deals come to fruition. Apparently, countries are tripping over themselves to give us a good deal at their own expense, just for the honour of having tea and biscuits with Boris. We should think ourselves lucky we aren't fishermen or fresh veg exporters.

Just be thankful it is ... or you and Mrs Jim would still be waiting for the EU committee to APPROVE the vaccine, never mind giving it you Rog

Keep on topic naughtyfox There is always a hike in fares in January. Only problem is that one can't get a ticket nowadays, not sure how season holders manage social distancing, half the seats are taped over.

Yes and I pay ... but I haven't noticed an increase.
We're buying lots more because we never eat out now, or go for a drink out etc.
But I'm finding I'm saving much more because of that, rather than prices rising.

Herbies Pizza are doing 50% off this weekend, so 50% reduction in costs for last night's dinner compared to 3 weeks ago!

The biggest blow for us was a year earlier when our closest supermarket Tesco finally twigged that neither their fish or deli counters would ever be profitable and shut them. Prior to that towards the end of the day we had years of buying up the stuff they'd got out but not sold at up to 95% discount. We lived like kings I tell ye!
Tesco have now sneakily done away with ALL their regular discounts for non club card shoppers. We're drifting towards Boothes - better food, prices not much different, calm shopping environment.
Two of us live well on average £40/week food bill and apart from being generally squeezed with the offers I haven't noticed that changing much. It does make a difference though as we don't wish to be coerced into having a club card. We don't drink, all fresh ingredients, we make, bake and whatever. I just realised we don't eat bread either though I don't remember giving it up.

Season ticket holders (and, presumably, other passengers?) can manage 'social distancing' if half the seats are taped over - although I believe seats are not 'taped over' but rather that trains are running 99% empty. One person per carriage, is that enough 'social distancing' for you? I live within sight of the West Coast Main Line and there seems to have been no reduction in train frequency at all. With so few people travelling, you'd think it would make sense not to run as many trains, I think they run them, empty as they are, to provide an illusion of normality.

All fare revenue now gets passed to the Gov. The Gov decides frequency of trains. The Gov bails out the private rail operators so dividends can still be paid. Situation at the moment, subject to change in the future...

We are spending a bit more on home heating, but much less on everything else. Hardly any petrol for the cars, no diesel for the boat, no visits to pubs or restaurants, no glider launching fees. If food has gone up a bit more than inflation, I can’t say I’ve noticed it. What is more significant is where you buy it from. Every time I shop in Markies I am gobsmacked at how much a few items cost, and equally when I buy quite a lot of stuff in Lidl I am gobsmacked how cheap it is.
