With the demise of so many high street stores it'll be a different World that emerges from the Coronageddon Cocoon we've existed in. I hope that some of the boarded up businesses will be recycled for perhaps housing to regenerate Town and City centres. I also hope pubs etc survive in some format or other....the places down here all set to open have changed, there's been a lot of alterations done to interiors but I suspect by replacing cosy with Covid safe they may well be quite sterile venues. Well we shall see, at least we've survived so far and an interesting time ahead as we all see what the new normal will consist of. This Is happening already, in Nuneaton they have converted shops, I think the old Co op ianali?, is now luxery flats, its a good thing, apart from parking of course.

Hard to believe they think Nuneaton centre can be improved upon isn’t it? I believe Debenhams building is also to become apartments. Great building actually, could be very smart. I like the idea of more people living in the town centres. God knows Nuneaton needs something to happen.

Actually, joking aside. Nuneaton is on the up I’m hoping. Something like 20,000 new builds going up. The poorer areas have been, or in the midst of huge housing improvements. I don’t know where they find the buyers for the properties, but they do! Thousands of new houses starting at £250,000 going up to £650,000 plus. They sell like hot cakes. I’m just hoping that all this brings with it better facilities and of course pubs 😊

It can only be a good thing, I like the look of the flats in the co op, if I was a single man I would be having some of that, living in town, near the lord hop and crew, happy days! Are they still going ahead with the cinema in the co op?

Single and young in the modern Nuneaton..could be fun huh 😂

What worries me is the building of large numbers of new housing in areas that do not need new development and where the lack of infrastructure is obvious. These developments seem to be forced by central government by a sort of "every area must contribute new housing" good in theory but problematic in practise.
There are two major housing developments (joining an already completed one) on the Southern ring road round Beverley (a nice modern road but not a dual carriageway) The feeder roads out of town are a small road through two villages which is the main route to Hull and another (again modern but apart from a couple of sections not dual carriageway) to the Humber Bridge and Leeds and York
All these roads are very congested by commuter traffic already !!! ........ in a few months when they are finished, I dread to think how long it will take to get the 8 miles to Hull
Beverley still has a very lively, busy and varied town center and high street and a weekly market (or at least it did before Covid) It is the opposite of a run down town centre. I would hate to see it damaged by too much and too quick expansion.

The council need to pay some attention to Queens roads, its one of the main routes into town but look so crap, went to the tip last weekend and I noticed the old workshops and crazy horse have gone, hopefully they knock up some nice houses to smarten the area up.

The Horse.. gone indeed. I figure that there working down from CampHill so that areas next. Cruising through the Camp area is very different now isn’t it. Mind you still lots of dumping. Boot wharfs unrecognisable really. Nuneaton has great road and rail links, it’s a good bet it’s an up and coming area. Just needs the funding and right ideas.

One of my biggest beefs about 'brownfield redevelopments' is how the 'builders' get away with not preserving any remaining historic aspects of the area or creating the 'community spaces' that was part of the planning agreements.
Recently visited the old HMV site in Hayes (for my jab) - most of the 60s/70s buildings now demolished and turned into modern flats, the couple really old brick built/art deco buildings (should be preserved and turned into a museum, cinema, community cafe, climbing centre etc) still derelict and hoarded off. Never mind at least they put up a statue of Nipper and named the new flats after the various parts of the sprawling 'estate'.
