If you look at the death rates due to other diseases, and then factor in the average ages, plus they wonβt have loads of fat peeps like the UK etc. Then covid 19 maybe just melts into the general health problems they live and die with. After all, itβs far from the top of the list when it comes to the causes of death worldwide.

It's just the Government are just refusing to accept it because the leader says it said it doesn't exist (and the rest of the government want to keep their jobs).

Especially if the President declares the country Covid free, makes it 'illegal' to point out the significant extra deaths that are occurring, and refuses to have any sort of social distancing or vaccine policy...

Wasnβt meaning Tanzania specifically. Was just musing that covid19 isnβt really that big a deal in the grand scheme of deaths around the world. Itβs miles behind things like Cancer isnβt it.

Yeah you're right ....... only about a quarter of those figures .......... what does an additional 3 million deaths matter anyway

But cancer, smoking, drinking and other things kill more than covid19 does. Have you stopped drinking? I was only trying to keep things in perspective.

smoking and drinking for example are choices and it would be very difficult for anyone to claim they were unaware of the possible consequences. People don't choose to get Covid. (they might fail to take adequate protection but I have not heard of anyone going out and deliberately trying to catch it)

(they might fail to take adequate protectionΒ but I have not heard of anyone going out and deliberately trying to catch it) My point was about poor countries having worse things to worry about than covid19. As for things we shouldnβt worry about, Iβd say I certainly donβt worry about catching covid. Iβve been sensible about it, but not to the point that I stopped seeing(and hugging) my children. Odds are that my death will be caused by something other than covid. Seems bizarre to me that people carry on drinking and smoking yet get in a panic over covid. I suppose itβs all down to what type of person you are.

One of the series of figures produced as a consequence of the pandemic, is the annual death rate from seasonal influenza.
I was stunned to see that the average yearly death's range around the 20,000 mark, and that a few years ago, in a particularly heavy year, 50,000 died.
This happened with barely a mention in the news ... simply accepted as the figures.
Of course without the pandemic we tend to focus on life ... who would have known that close to 2,000 die each year on UK roads, or that over 5,000 commit suicide every year in the UK.

Rog I donβt think many realise just how many people die every year. Something like 6million under 5s die every year. Thatβs 3 times the total yearly covid deaths of all ages. Itβs figures like this that help me to keep perspective.
