We did the Bosley locks today ... didn't plan to, we just arrived at around 11am and thought 'nice day ... why not'.
But we'd not eaten (although up since before 8am) so once down the locks we had a late (very late about 1pm) breakfast.
Out walking this afternoon and not really hungry so for a change , once back at the boat, I lit a fire in our (cheap as chips) fire pit at around 8.30pm ... just lit long enough to cremate a few burgers and sausages which we ate in pittas with salad.
Have to say it was brill ... and I don't do barbecues usually.
Normally associate barbies with meeting up with friends ... a large sort of social thing.
Do you do barbecues routinely ?

Just a few burgers and sausages? The two of you! Anyway. Yes, we BBQ quite often, weather permitting, maybe 3 or 4 times a week. Often kebabs or fish rather than red meat. Hard to better a good sausage though. Cooked some mackerel on ours earlier this evening. Washed down with a few old fashioned whisky cocktails. Loving the weather π

Semi regularly - if itβs hot as sin at home I will cook on the 3 burner gas bbq we have in the garden; overkill fir the three of us but absolutely brilliant for doing large bbqs for family and friends; two years since anything like that though On the boat; again Iβll cook on the little Cadac Safari Chef if I can - ok for 4 people but gets hard work any more than that Iβve also got a Grillo Chef clam shell gas bbq that is handy if there are more than 3/4 of us, we had a decent bbq last Saturday, then fired it up for a leisurely breakfast on Sunday morning. Cant beat a bit of alfresco cooking - need not be restricted to burgers and bangers though - we do plenty of different meats, fish, veg and even pizza on a stone.

Regularly BBQ parboiled new potatoes. Rubbed in olive oil and salt and pepper.. corn. Asparagus wrapped in foil. Also not adverse to bacon and eggs in the morning. Kebab sticks can be loaded with allsorts(not liquorice).. bloody hungry again now !

Hells bells @gazza and ianali ... didn't realise the barbie was so well used. Maybe I need to re think this. Really enjoyed this evening but would normally just cook on the gas cooker in the boat as β suggests. You've opened my eyes to a world of possibilities Rog

We like a good barbie, we can now do it at home but we used to go down the local beach, which is now even more local and have a bbq.
There is a butchers not too far away that does fantastic bbq packs.
We love those minted lamb kebabs.
Quite often do steak on the barbie.
I'm also going to get a grate for the fire pit to cook on. The briquettes always end up on it anyway.

Barbecued bananas(wrapped in foil),served with ice creamππ. We used to do that on the camp fire at scouts. Chuck a potato in foil first and followed by banana, but split and chocolate slipped inside.

If I recall correctly. We normally used kit kats.

As often as possible, thats why i built the grub shack, only have the on 50cm kettle bbq, plus the pizza oven, which we fired up last night, i also have a little gas camping stove to use for onions and stuff.
I love cooking outdoors this time of the year, we have everything we need down the garden with the fridge and 42" tv on the wall, chuck in the corner sofa and shade and it just makes sense to spend every available minute down there enjoying the weather.
Next year i plan to get a big 6 burner gas one and maybe a new charcoal one and even a better pizza oven.
On the boat i have a little cheapo bbq which can just about do steak/burger or sausages.

Ours is just a little fire pit ... gather some kindling ... light a fire ... as flames die down burn something on it. May have to get more adventurous with what I cremate Rog
