Although I never want to live in a house the endless increase in prices is a negative of living on boats. When I first moved onto a boat in 1994 I could have bought an embarrassingly nice house in the home counties. Even a large terraced house in London. For cash. Oh dear. I chose the boats instead, did various cc ing, moorings in certain places etc, had babies and now can't afford a house anywhere even if I could not live on a boat due to mobility problems. It's a bit odd looking at the price of what I could have bought when I was 20. Flat over the River in Wapping for example. Oops. I'll probably end up in a tent eventually as have zero motivation to get money or profit from money given to me. Bit odd but there we are such is life for the select few

You know what they say about hindsight ... ... but they also say "you pays your money and takes your choice". Isn't it great that we're not all the same? i

Isn't great that we're not all the same? i Assuming you meant "isn't it great" rather than "isn't great" then yes I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. If everyone took the same approach it would be incredibly boring. ETA also worth noting that the "you pays your money" comment is not relevant in my case as I have never had any of my own money. The only money I have ever had has been from dead people so it would be more accurate to say "you pays their money and you makes your choice" or similar. It's an odd situation and it gets worse before it gets better. To coin a phrase.

Excluding finding a suitable mooring or having a permanent address for mail etc What do you consider the negatives of living on your boat permanently. Not being able to have a bath .. a good, proper, indulgent, top it up with your toes kind of bath........ .... and after all these years I still miss my garden.

Now and again I take off to a pleasant hotel for a couple of days at the least excuse. I insist on a room with a bath. Its bliss. Just glad I don't have to clean it afterwards. I used to get a room with a bath most times when away at work but in recent years the crummy accommodation that the government generally allow on the expenses come with only a shower if I am lucky, there have been some with only a mandy and bucket!

I know...where has this year gone ? Would sooo love a proper catch up. How's George doing ?❤ Barney has now learned how to use a cat flap(we bought a LARGE one)and it only opens when it reads his chip.We now think he needs a revolving door rather than an £80 odd quid cat door.🤦🏻♀️xx
