There won't be another lock down Can't help it ... I'm an optimist. Rog Oh yes the old optimist thing. A pessimist says that things can not get worse. The optimist counters this by arguing that they certainly can. Seems about right.

I recently sent of an application to join the Optimist Society. I'm sure they won't accept it.

And I was like "where is naughtyfox when you need him". Yes he was a bit annoying but I sometimes wonder if he was also like a suspension bridge cable. ETA probably too late for him to return given the abuse directed at him previously but it does make me wonder.

My neighbour’s sister is friendly with someone who knows someone who is pals with someone in No10. Word is January 5th. This would involve planning. I will not accept for a moment that Boris is capable of planning that far ahead.

I would not accept for a moment that Boris is in charge of making decisions.

Claim your date now - I've not gone past the 5th of January as some of the reporting by media would mean we would all be dead by then having suffered Covid over 1000 times... !
20th Dec 21st 22nd 23rd 24th 25th 26th 27th - Forum Idiot (E) 28th 29th 30th.....Patty 31st 1st Jan 2nd - Jim (?) 3rd 4th- Twerp (?) 5th - Dyertribe (W)
There won't be another lockdown - Dogless (?) a(?)
Edit to add,
People can choose the same date- no prizes on offer... To make sure the regions (or nations if you are being pedantic) are fairly represented please say if you are refering to (E) England, (S) Scotland, (W) Wales. (NI) Northern Ireland, (A) Aberdeenshire.
PS where is this years photo comp?
cannot possibly make a decision until time to ponder cannot ponder as I appear to have landed in an almost alcohol free zone(ignoring he hot chocolate and rum at the market) However rumour from those who have been summoned to meets in the NHS is that they are expecting a crises and some staff have been told to work 14 hour shifts 4 on 4 off... so if I had to pick a date unsustained by my vino of choice it would be.... 30th Dec... to stop the New Year shenanigans

That sounds about right.
The queen canceling tea in the garden is ominous.

I think the few pragmatists in parliament (maybe that should be very very few) will ensure that nothing will happen until the minimum of 03-01-22
with a possible commencement 05-01-22 . (if Omicron shows large increase in cases needing medical intervention). I think totally pointless trying anything before Christmas as it is fairly obvious to all that there will be mass contravention. and if the poison dwarf believes she can stop Hogmanay ....... well I doubt it will be just her effigy on the bonfire as regards the Welsh ..... well they're a dour lot and as long as they don't stop them going to chapel it's a possibility
I think it all depends on what happens ..... if the worst case (what they seem to be preparing for) or if it proves to be more like the South African experience.
I think it could go either way as there does seem to be some very dramatic differences between countries
too close to call but I think I will plump for the dogless option if I have to choose (can you have an each way bet ? )

I have heard a similar thing, someone who knows someone high up in the fire service working with the government about a lockdown in the new year. Mate of a mate and all that, probably bollocks. Need to get my house sorted and new shed pub built, you can come round and i can beat you at darts Ian.

Whilst the number of new cases is rising speedily, at present hospitalizations appear to be holding around the 7,500 mark ... I suppose a rise in hospital occupancy will be the driver for further restrictions rather than new cases alone. The two lads living next door to us are now isolating having tested positive (both in their thirties and having just returned from a foreign holiday) but neither are unwell. We live in hope Rog

Not sure if it was the official line but I heard a merkin woman on Bloomberg radio (it's a TV station with the audio sent via DAB) saying that "this Omicron is exactly what we want" referring to the suggestion that it spreads fast and is mild. Means we can move to it just being like the flu and away from all this nonsense.
Test: .beta delta Omicron pi alpha
Google are automatically capitalising Omicron for some reason.
