He has lied to the HoC. Misled the House. He has claimed in the past, from the dispatch box that he knew nothing of any parties. Now he admits attending one. That is a matter for the HoC and the 1922 committee, not Sue Gray. An honourable person(in the true sense not just the standard mode of address in the HoC) would have resigned. We should remember though that although Boris will lie like a flatfish about virtually everything, he always tells the truth about Covid. When are you expecting Fuxxy's baby?

Jim has a habit of walking into brick walls, an ability all of his own making.

If he had come clean straight away he would have had a chance. Maybe he should have gone for 'the dog ate my homework' gambit.

I can think of dozens of reasons to get shut of him and all his cronies ... but cheese and wine isn't one of them. Business as usual for them whether he stays or goes. Rog

If he does go we get Yet Another unelected prime minister.
This is getting rather popular!

In favour, we know what we have got at present, any replacement may be a lot worse, if they can find anyone remotely capable of doing the job. Personally I would not consider doing his job at any price.
But then he has kept me in a job! ( Sometimes I do wonder if I would be happier and better off doing something else )

It's not in anyone's interest for him to be replaced at the moment. The next scheduled general election is too far away (2nd May 2024). They would want to elect a new leader 12-15 months before this date but not before the Covid nonsense has abated.

so I'm leaving my office (not having opened an email that invited me to a bring booze party) where wifey has called on me and told me to enjoy the rest of the sunny evening and, as we leave by the back door to no.10 with the intention of crossing the lawn towards our flat, we happen across a bunch of folk in my back garden who are milling around carrying glasses and bottles.
says me to wifey "oh bugger it looks like I've missed a work meeting - we'd better pretend I was held up in the office".
some greasy little lapdog sidles up and offers us drinks and we decide to go with the flow and find out what's happening.
19 months later I'm advised that it was a bring booze party and am amazed that I hadn't realised it at the time.
SODDIT! I just hope the House believes me when I tell them that I was a stupid thick ignorant cunt who couldn't tell his arse from his elbow.

No point in calling for a PM to resign ...... it is only feeling the points of the knives in his back push them off.
It will all hinge on who (if any) are willing to grasp the poison chalice at such a time.
It strikes me there is a strong possibility they will continue to let him be the shit shield for now and then try and ....... "assist" his "resignation" when they think there is a brighter future for whoever takes it on.
