It's been drawn to my attention that the UK's crappiest apology for a navigation authority intends to keep the so-called Ribble Link closed to navigation for a total of 300 days out of the 366 we have in 2024.
The main reason for this, although C&RT aren't prepared to admit to it, appears to be severe siltation in Savick Brook in the area of the half-tide gate/barrier the clowns at C&RT like to pretend is a 'sea lock'. The extent of the mud and silt build up is, apparently, affecting the passage of even the shallow draught pleasure craft (2' 3'') already limited to gaining access to the Lancaster Canal.
Siltation build up in waterways such as Savick Brook, always increases both in volume and rapidity with a reduction in the numbers of passing boat traffic. C&RT's response to the present excessive siltation is therefore to reduce the numbers of passing boat traffic to less than before.
As I've pointed out on many previous occasions, . . in the Canal & River Trust, the UK's inland waterway pleasure boating fraternity are lumbered with just the sort of navigation authority that most of them deserve.

Tony this shower of idiots on here will keep making excuses for crt what ever they do. When they are closing canals down they will still support them. They haven’t got the intelligence to think for themselves, so just accept what they are told by crt.

My old grandfather got a MBE for bomb disposal and war effort (factories made radio boxes and other wooden articles). True story. Very interesting, this thread needs something of interest to attract the thousands of guests who are never likely to transit the Ribble by whatever means or timing.

The tiny number of active members on there who recognise C&RT for the dishonest incompetent shitheap it is, always get jumped on and shouted down by the C&RT apologists and brown-nosers whenever they speak out. Frankly, I'm quite looking forward to the day - and I don't think it's all that far away - when there's not enough of a useable interconnected system of canals and river navigations left for them to pose and fart around on with their pretentious noddy-boating mentalities, and the silly looking boats they're all so proud of.

I don’t think that day is really that far away either, within a few short years there won’t be a network to talk of. It will be the fault of the idiots on here and on cwdf. Cwdf was always pro crt which is why you where banned from there. But they have taken over here now, this was set up to be one place to be able to discuss the reality of what’s happening on the waterways. Now apologists for crt like Alice and mr shit for brains have shut down any discussion about crt on here. They are pathetic and I agree with you they have got the navigation authority they deserve.

Go and start your own forum/noticeboard then. I'm sure you'll be happy together being miserable, you can just insult each other.

Go and start your own forum/noticeboard then. I'm sure you'll be happy together being miserable, you can just insult each other. No why should we. This forum was set up specifically for people banned from cwdf to discuss the subjects that where getting censored on there. These mainly being crt related, the owner of cwdf being leant on by CRT’s management to shut the discussion down. Those sentiments are now prevalent on here, wanting to shut down discussion about things you don’t agree with isn’t very democratic. I could equally ask you why don’t all the apologist’s for crt go and post on cwdf with the rest of the morons. Leave the people who are able to think for themselves to discuss the issues on here. Instead they want to turn Thunderboat into another cwdf.

If you look at the thread title, you'll see that it says - The Ribble Link - underused and over expensively operated. If you want to - in your words - ". . attract the thousands of guests who are never likely to transit the Ribble . ." - then I think you should express your wishes with a post in a thread that doesn't have the words - 'The Ribble' - in the thread/topic title. I do hope that this simple explanation isn't too difficult for someone as stupid as you to follow.

TB was set up for those who were no longer welcome on CWDF. I do hope that this simple explanation isn't too difficult for someone as stupid as you to follow. You're (no longer) welcome.

Tony is entitled to his opinion, although like many others I've blocked him so I no longer have to suffer it. However, when I did read his idiotic posts I disagreed with much of what he said and this being a forum, I said so. Holding a different opinion to somebody, and expressing that opinion, isn't "shutting discussion down".

This place seems to be full of people with an overinflated opinion of themselves and their own importance.

Since when, . . were you appointed as Thunderboat's chief Administrator/Moderator, . . and general arbiter as to who is welcome on here, and what we're allowed to say ? That's Alice's job !

I am a worthless inconsequential nobody and happy about it.
If others could understand that they are also worthless then it would all be much less complicated.
Nobody on this forum is anything other than worthless and vacuous.
Its never happened and never will happen..
As another gutless inveterate pointed out this is the cesspit of gods mistakes.
No kidding.
Nobody is 'shutting down' anyone.
A lot of people will be ignoring the spammer because it is too annoying but thats not shutting down.
