Rudder looks a bit wrong but that could be sorted out. Is it £30k in beer tokens then ? I know the cabin at the front is based on the shape of the hold covers but does that not cause a forward view problem from steering position ? I agree about the rudder, I don't know if the engine is in and running either. You can see enough from the steering position, the cabin isn't that high. As for the price I don't know it depends on if someone buys it or not. But I wouldn't want to pay over £30,000 in fact I'd proberly want to pay less ( but I am tight) I think if you paid 30,000 and put another 30,000 into it, it would be an amazing boat. I'm surprised he's selling it to be honest. Someone should point out to him though if it is actually 14'6" then there's no way it's a L&L boat.

14ft6 makes it useless to me as my mooring only allows up to 13ft10. And anything over 14ft can be problematic on the south Grand Union anyway.
which is lucky.
I reckon it would be the ideal base for an electric conversion (in addition to the diesel unit) by designing and making a proper rudder - similar to what it would have originally had - with an integral pod drive in it.
Looks like an easily driven hull. Might need a bow thruster though .

Someone should point out to him though if it is actually 14'6" then there's no way it's a L&L boat. I was told that IRONCLAD, a L&L long boat, was measured by a surveyor as 14ft5 beam. I imagine the measurement in the advert must come from a survey as well. Not sure how accurate these are but one thing is that boats that wide are much less usable on southern waterways than <14ft boats. Farnworth can definitely get to Tring on the GU and that is 14ft wide according to the boat list. Maybe these old ones spread like old narrow boats do ? If a 7ft beam narrow boat ends up 7ft3 somewhere the equivalent would be 14ft6 the problem is once the steel cabin is on it would be a real pain to get it back to original beam.

LAKE is a very nice boat. I must say I thought it was a Calder and Hebble boat not a L&L boat.
June is a similar boat which is not on the boat list for some reason despite being used on the waterways. I guess it could be one of the great unlicensed.

L&L shortboats'are 14' they wouldn't be able to work the whole of the L&L otherwise. I'm not sure about the longboats. The brothers who had my boat also had fair maiden a hull very similar to lake. They used to tow that over the L&L so that must be 14'. So I don't know for sure but I'd be surprised if lake is 14'6".

So unless it has spread I don't think its 14'6". ps. If I had the chance to own any of the boats I've mentioned then I would jump at it. Because to my mind they are the nicest inland waterways boats I've ever seen.

There is similar one at Laleham on the Thames but I don't know what its called. One of the features I find particularly appealing is the wide heavy duty rubbing strake. They really meant business when they built these boats. Proper bit of equipment. Lovely. But probably not for me sadly.

Lake is completely different to Pauline the boat I keep going on about at Laleham has a similarly "excessive" number of rivets on the bows just like Lake.

Both my P&A boats have rock wool. Its not too bad really. I know sprayfoam is seen as the best option but once a boat starts aging I wonder how the bond holds up. Not convincing me Andrew it can hold water and cause corrosion so sprayfoam for me

Lake is a lovely boat. That front cabin on it could be made into a very pleasant living area. With periscopes
