Peter, you told me not to buy one unless certain! Yes a shame I had so little time - but it was just a toe in the water trip. I met three Kramer brothers and waved at a fourth - all seem nice fellas but dealers are dealers................... I've not given up on Emstank - she has potential issues but a very reasonable price................. I like the fact that she's big enough to be a good size liveabord houseboat and small enough for a bit of coastal cruising. Unfortunately clearing my mooring is looking difficult so the project has slowed for the time being - worst case scenario is I'll have to spend my money on repairing a frankly ugly thames lighter and forego replacing her with an attractive boat - not ideal for me or the area [of outstanding natural beauty] Not giving up yet though, as for pictures - Don't hold your breath - not that good and not many of them. A Yes waldamar, I do remember that I told you "not to buy one unless certain", which is the best advise I can give to anyone that's on a barge-, or boat hunting expedition.
The business at Zaandam only belongs to 2 of the Kramer brothers Klaas and Goos (about 3 times my size).
The 25m Emstank definitely is a boat with potential, at a fair asking price, but it will take a lot of time to make that into a liveaboard, although in my opinion worth the effort.
Too bad that clearing your mooring is looking so difficult, and I wish you success in managing to do so.
It's very wise not to give up, you'll get there one day (I hope).
It's becoming more and more difficult not to hold my breath while waiting for your pictures, even if they're only a few, and if they aren't that good .
Atb, Peter.

the edge of the little bit of boaty heaven where Waldemar lives (well apart from the prices in the pub .... although it's not a bad cafe opposite) 004 by mudlarker2, on Flickr That's a lovely photo John, I like the view of harbours like that, and also the Dutch barge "VIOD", one of the many with that name, that used to be a very popular one.
Another very common one was "VIOS", too many to count of these.
Peter.

I was very tempted by this one, main problem being on my mooring it'd fall over!

Waldamar previously mentioned that the hull of his Lighter is "wearing away".
I have not seen it but I suspect he's on a drying mooring with a hard bed. So a boat with long keel and no bilge plates would fall over.
