Here is one photo I just received from waldamar after his visit to the Netherlands.
Because he thinks that his photos are not good enough, he only sent me one. Peter.
edited because of an unknown reason the image that I posted early this morning had disappeared later.

Errrrmmm Errrrmmm , that's exactly what I said when I discovered that the photo I posted early this morning had disappeared, I don't think that I will live long enough to understand why certain things like this do happen, but this time it seems to stay.

Huge thanks to Peter for getting this picture up, the boat of interest is the converted MFV on the right, 60' or so, steel with a lovely big diesel [can't remember make] well fitted out and 55,000 euros. To tall for my mooring but very nice.....................

I've noticed that at Uxbridge before. If its been there 56 years (!!) I doubt that has been helpful for the wood although it appears it may be teak (teak and mahogany is a slightly odd description) I didn't realise the moorings were transferable I guess they have grandfather rights.
£25k seems an awful lot of money for a 50ft wooden TSDY with decommissioned engines and no mooring.

I quite like this boat I passed last weekend on the GU Paddington arm. Quite an unusual design once you see the last picture. I wonder if its dutch. Perhaps peter bargemast can comment I bet it goes along nicely. Eta boat list details : De Bonnefooi - Length : 10.7 metres ( 35 feet 1 inch ) - Beam : 2.5 metres ( 8 feet 2 inches ). Steel hull Diesel . So I guess that's Dutch op de bonnefooi. (of going on a trip) without a plan, in a improvised fashion. Great name for a boat

Someone has done a lot of work on this old boat, as they used to have a open reardeck and a fairly low cabin to fit under the lower fixed bridges in the country.
I can't say that I like what they've done to this boat, but they've gained a lot of useful space, which must have been why all this work has been done.
Peter.

When I was young free single and rich and tall and handsome I almost bought a (considerably larger) bakdekker called "elve" which was on the Thames. I always found the description "bakdekker" quite funny because the boats have large back decks. Nobody would call a boat that in English but dutch is a similar language Anyway I agree its a bit of an odd boat boat I quite like it. I'd like it a whole lot more if it was under 7ft wide it would be a lot more useful.

As you may have found out yourself, "bakdekker" and "back deck" are in no relation to each other. "Back deck" in dutch is called "achterdek"

I didn't know that. I thought a bakdekker was a pleasure cruiser with an open cockpit or "back deck".
do you think the boat I posted a picture of is a bakdekker which has had the open cockpit covered over to provide more accommodation ?
