This is exactly the point it's what suits the person.whilst I like the look of tugs, I haven't seen one that would suit me and my requirements from a boat

Nice. A bit lacking in accommodation but I'm also a fan of these. Picture of it bargemast will know. I think its a "zeeschouw" or similar. There is a very nice example in Limehouse marina at the moment. I find them a bit "boxy" due to the construction method but still pleasing. Not sure if that one is a "zeeschouw" (sea scow?) but it looks like it might be.

I seem to remember peter commenting on a similar one a while ago and it may have been a low cost construction. Its not very pretty but it does serve a purpose and its not expensive. It could be a lot nicer to look at but may also be a lot more money.

It could be a lot nicer to look at but may also be a lot more money. The boat of this ad looks like a "Zeeschouw", as you rightly suggested, but the bows are abit narrow, and the leeboards aren't the sort of leeboard that you usually see on a Zeeschouw, as the are normally fairly narrow and long. I don't want to upset the seller, but I find this boat ugly, and it lacks the caracteristics of the real Zeeschouw. In this ad, as in many others too, a great lack of info, like to name one thing :"The make and type of the engine", as they're going to remove te mast, the engine seems to be important if you still want to go somewhere. I'll post a few Zeeschouw photo's of a few ones that don't look as bad as this one. Peter.

Eta in reply to Peter
That's interesting that they have flat bows. There is a boat in Limehouse I had assumed was a Zeeschouw but it has a pointed bow. Its also quite wide while being not very long. I will try to get a photo tomorrow .
Izula which I know is one of your favourite barges is now in "northern holland" according to the owner. He has put another boat on the mooring in Limehouse an ex hotel boat. A Belgian built Luxe motor with a Spits stern and Luxie bows.
I'll remember the name at some point and get a photo or two.
Certainly not as pleasing as Izula - which has not changed hands.

Certainly not as pleasing as Izula - which has not changed hands. I've had a many years long relationship with "Izula" when she was called "Volharding Anna", and skippered her on several long trips between Belgium and France for her ex-owners, that prefered to stay on the US Virgin Island where they were living, and had me to bring their barge back to her/their home mooring at Auxerre, nothing but very good memories. You're making me curious, it will be hard to wait for the photos of this ex-hotel boat, as I used to know many of these not all that long ago. Thank you very much in advance, if all is well it should be a lot easier to take some photos of that boat, as your mooring is almost touching Limehouse, than to take photos of the sister (or brother) ship of "LAKE" . Peter.

Now those are what I think of as pleasing and very Dutch looking vessels They do look quite nice under sail, they were a cheaper replacement for the wooden fishing Botters, and were willing to work hard and be safe boats for the sea they worked on, which was the Zuiderzee, now named IJsselmeer since the building of the dyke (Afsluitdijk) that has a lock on each side to still gives access to the sea A couple of a bigger size Botter's (Noordzee Botters) were built of steel, and there are still a few of these left too. Peter.

although I like most Dutch boats I don't find the look of this one very pleasing I agree there are nicer looking boats, but it's cheap if it has no major faults.i was more commenting on the type/style of boat. As I say something a little bigger I could really go for long term.

Something a little bigger I could really go for say 36ft-46ft range.

Peter. I personally do not allocate gender to boats due to some previous problems. I will definitely get a picture of the hotel boat but for now I think its called "Jorja". I've been past it regularly the last few days includimg 3 times today in canoe and another boat and the name is written on the side as well as something like "28.71m 5.05m". Memory problems I expect. Its a "double decker" hotel barge. I'm not sure if that's the name as I've always been terrible with names. Anyway I hope that helps a bit Paul. I'll try to get some sensible photographic information tomorrow while I am still here. As you say my mooring is a few minutes from Limehouse marina and the "tower block" as one neighbour called this ex hotel barge is not going to be moving any time soon.
