I've had a many years long relationship with "Izula" when she was called "Volharding Anna", and skippered her on several long trips between Belgium and France for her ex-owners, that prefered to stay on the US Virgin Island where they were living, and had me to bring their barge back to her/their home mooring at Auxerre, nothing but very good memories. You're making me curious, it will be hard to wait for the photos of this ex-hotel boat, as I used to know many of these not all that long ago. Thank you very much in advance, if all is well it should be a lot easier to take some photos of that boat, as your mooring is almost touching Limehouse, than to take photos of the sister (or brother) ship of "LAKE" . Peter. I personally do not allocate gender to boats due to some previous problems. I will definitely get a picture of the hotel boat but for now I think its called "Jorja". I've been past it regularly the last few days includimg 3 times today in canoe and another boat and the name is written on the side as well as something like "28.71m 5.05m". Memory problems I expect. Its a "double decker" hotel barge. I'm not sure if that's the name as I've always been terrible with names. Anyway I hope that helps a bit Paul. I'll try to get some sensible photographic information tomorrow while I am still here. As you say my mooring is a few minutes from Limehouse marina and the "tower block" as one neighbour called this ex hotel barge is not going to be moving any time soon. That's just your choice, boats have been gendered as females for centuries (even before I was born ) There were no bells starting to ring when I was reading "Jorja", that leaves 2 possibilities, 1/ I don't know that boat or 2/ it's not the right name. Hope that you next visit there will make 1/ or 2/ sure Sunny (yesterday my life was full of rain). Peter.

I vaguely remember a barge that was used for bicycle holidays that was named "Marjo", but as it's a fairly common name, I have no idea if this is the same barge. A photo would make it more clear of course. Peter.

O Eta photo I think its a Belgian Luxe motor. Spits stern with Luxemotor bows. Quite a nice hull but the cabin is horrible I would have to chop off the top deck personally.

Do you think that the "MARJO" originally looked like this one, which is a shorter (but not shortened) version of a Belgiun Spits ? This one belongs (or belonged ?) to David Suchet and was (is ?) moored many years at Limehouse too. The Murrell family owned a similar barge for a while that was named "De HOOP". Peter.

That's in st Katherine's dock.
I must say I thought it was a modern replica when I saw it at Hampton Court earlier this year but on closer inspection it is an old boat.
Nice.
This is my favourite one. I'll be buying it once my premium bonds do their thing.

Wow that's exspensive, I suppose most of the cost will be the mooring.

That was quick. Yes it's pan 68 the one that has got a hole in it. The mark up is amazing it went for £1200 at the auction, I bet there was commission but still £6000 for doing absolutely nothing is outrageous.

Pictures of Marjo (not for sale) for peter bargemast to have a look at As promised for bargemast a couple of photos of Marjo from a better angle I'd have to have that cabin off but as the owner also has Izula one of the nicest Luxe motors around according to a reliable source I expect it's not too serious. I do think with that top deck gone it would be a seriously nice looking barge perhaps also put a smaller wheelhouse on there.

Another boat at Limehouse for Peter to have a look at. Not for sale but as the Zeeschouw Dutch vessels were discussed it got me thinking . But it does not have a flat stem it is pointy with a lot of steelwork. I think it might be English (have not googled it). One thing is it is really quite wide at least 10ft possibly a bit more. Interesting boat.
