I wonder how far it is from the back of the wheelhouse to the stern. I reckon it would be possible to fabricate some rails onto which a car could be driven. That would make it a considerably more interesting boat. You could even cut down the stern cabin top and rebuild it lower with rails and ramps so the car could be loaded on and off from either side.
A bit complex but the idea of carrying a car on a small barge does appeal somewhat and seeing as its already ugly it would not be too "rude" to chop it about at the back.
Depending on the location of the propulsion engine it could even be feasible to fit some sort of screw-jsck operated car lift.
OK I'm getting carried away.

Just simply fit an hydraulic car crane like most barges have overhere, btw I've never seen anything that worked with a screw-" jsck" car lift . Peter.

I saw a fiat 500 in the front well of a narrow boat. It was mounted on a platform with 4 vertical acme type screws so it could be raised up to side deck level.
A car crane is the ideal thing but is there space for one? I suppose building a car crane forward of the wheelhouse then collapse the wheelhouse during use may work.
An obvious alternative for transport is a decent motorbike. Maybe with a small hiab type crane you could arrange a storage "locker" so that a decent sized bike could be loaded and secured in its own "garage". There is definitely room for that on the boat. Comfortably.

It's the square stern that would put me off What do you think about the steel "art" work on that square stern ? Do you like that, or don't you appreciate that sort of "art" work either ? Peter. It's not really my kind of thing. But if someone gave me a boat with it on, I suppose I wouldn't moan.

Forward visibility is a bit awkward for midgets. As for the engine you could get a new unit for that money something like a Beta 85 or if you wanted traditional you could ask kris to look for a proper Gardner like a 4LW. I'd probably go for a new unit myself. Being a modern boat an old engine would not really be in keeping so unless it was significantly cheaper new is the way to go. I guess they may have got the 6LX quite cheap (as they are quite cheap) and also this boat has high side decks so I wonder if the intention was to use it as a coastal vessel rather than a canal barge. You may be most surprised to find out how inventive midgets are to be able to do many things just like "normal" people . And while doing so, they rarely hit their heads. Peter. As mentioned previously - a milk crate is rather handy πππ»

A few hours well spent with an angle grinder will cure the bad taste "art" work, which is well worth it if the boat would have been given to you. Peter.

The air draft looks to high to use with wheelhouse up and a square stern would be a nightmare exiting locks and bridges on bends. With no gas it would need to be on shore power or genny to use the induction hob. Think it was intended as a static live aboard looking at the list of stuff. He talks of deballasting but counter looks well up already. Another project not thought out properly.

I don't think I'd like to travel far on that. Better off with a decent electric bike.

Why on earth (in the water) would you make a back cabin with only 5' headroom ? The square stern looks to be tapered, so getting out off a lock wouldn't be as much of a problem as it may look at first sight. The idea of gas free boats sometimes go's too far, if you're tied up in the middle of nowhere, there where you can (almost) hear the grass grow, and you have to disturb this ever so relaxing silence by running the genny to make something to eat, as even a super-silenced genny will be making a lot more noice than the grass growing. Peter.

Is that what is known as a "just in case" motorcar ? Pretty close, it's called a "suitcase" car. Peter.

It sure looks like fun, but I don't think that it's as practical as the suitcase car. Peter.
