I should give advance warning that this is quite technical. This is quite technical. The way that the water/gas separators work on built in water cooled marine generators means that if you were to deliberately block the gas outlet the gas would simply be diverted to the water outlet due to the design of the separator. You are going to need two carrots Snowmen are good at finding carrots, they smell them all the time.

Its a lovely boat I agree. But its wood. There are lots of lovely steel boats about as well. If you are a real sucker for punishment and need external wood what about a nice van lent like this www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/289/van-lent-and-zonen-50-ft-steel-tsdy-1960£100k asking price compared to the £80k for the wood. There will be cheaper ones to be had. Best thing is its got a steel hull. Steel.

These 2 boats do look gorgeous, but even if I had the money, I wouldn't buy them.
I do like to see them, and that's all, as owning one will be sooooo much work to maintain one in the condition that they are on the photos.
Only thinking about that makes me feel tired already, with several crew members it should be possible though.
Peter.

She is a beauty and no mistake Andrew, but I still prefer the wood one however in reality either would do the job for me though. On second thoughts I like the steel one better I think, not because its steel but it just looks more right

This Fisher 46 looks interesting www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fisher-46-project-boat/153325152608?hash=item23b2e42960:g:QhwAAOSwgfRcK8PRLovely mouldings from North shore Yachts. So pretty. Not in a very good place for photos but they did manage to get one of the delightful stern 46 is quite a big one usually much more than £75k for one of those but this one does need a lot of hours spending doing it up. I prefer the 30 on balance but they are a bit small. this one is more of a size where you could blatantly live very comfortably on it 24/7.

Scrap? Mind you with that wheelhouse removed and a curved steel cabin top added and portholes in hull sides it could be made into a nice inland houseboat but its a bit wide at 17.5ft. It could do some of the Thames however. There is a humber lighter (later motorised in 1931) called "Bustardthorpe" which is 90ft long x 17ft6 wide and has been as far as Abingdon. My yot is currently moored close to Bustardthorpe which has been on a roadside public mooring near Runnymede for a few years. It is used residentially. Gardner 6LX. Lovely old boat but a bit large. I've seen it on the move it is a great sight. www.beckingham-northnotts.org.uk/history/shipyard2.html

The barge has been re-named again I gather as at the end of the history in your link they say that her owners re-named the barge "Miranda Mayne". Peter.

Peter. there should be an addition to that article as the boat was again sold in about 2008 (£12k) and was moved down the Thames from Abingdon. Apparently it was a tight fit in Marsh lock at Henley. The new owner cut out the tank bulkheads sold the steel to scrap man and filled the boat with all sorts of equipment. It is like a massive shed in there. A real "man cave" not what most people would call a houseboat but it is lived on full time. Nice big Jotul wood burner in there. Its a good barge but too big really for a boat without an official mooring. Owner has previously squatted several locations but been moved on. Latest spot is a clever bit of mooring I think he'll be able to stay there as not upsetting anyone.

It is still an interesting barge Peter, even if she was a total wreck. Billy Boys are very rare and I don't actually know of another one still around, there probably are one or two but I have not come across them (the Audrey is sometimes classed as one but she was actually built as a lightship although with the same hull)
