It is still an interesting barge Peter, even if she was a total wreck. Billy Boys are very rare and I don't actually know of another one still around, there probably are one or two but I have not come across them (the Audrey is sometimes classed as one but she was actually built as a lightship although with the same hull) Yes John, I'm sure that she is an interesting barge historically, but it wouldn't be feasable for most of the TB members to take on, and finish a project like that, unless you're still young and very wealthy, as it will take a lot of time and a LOT of money to get her back into her former glory. I've seen many old barges in the need of lots of work that were bought by young enthousiastic people with the well known "rose spectacles", they lived on these boats for several years spending all of their money (not much to start with) and all of their time before finally realising that they would never be able to finish the huge job, and then had to find a similar dreamer to take it of their hands for next to nothing, until they realised too that it was a bigger job the they could handle. But it's still an interesting boat, and as you say only one of the very last survivers of that type of barge, so worth saving. Peter.

My doctor has forbidden me from buying that sort of boat.

My doctor has forbidden me from buying that sort of boat. Find another doctor, the one you have sounds like the wrong one . Follow your dreams, and not your doctor. Peter.

its okay it was a figure of speech. I don't have a doctor. I occasionally may need to visit a doctor (last time a couple of years ago) but it is not usually the same person.
My dreams do not involve owning a historic boat again.

My dreams do not involve owning a historic boat again. That's very sane.

Thank you. The boat in my avatar put me off. I built/bodged the cabin on that boat to look like an old workboat it was a motorised iron horse drawn narrow boat. Very nice old boat but I could not keep it well and did not want to spoil it by cutting or putting a steel cabin on it. There are times when you have to recognise your own weaknesses and one of mine is maintenance. Its just the way it is.

As you say Kris, not much infor, only Lenght 11m and beam 4m, nothing about anything technical. Could be a nice project for someone, I like the size, short and fat, don't know about the draft, as nothing is said about it. The starting price is quite attractive too, wonder what it will be selling for, if it get's sold. Peter.

It looks a bit like one we had on recently but I'm not sure. The size is good, but not sure about the draft.

I think we did this one before ages ago. 32x15ft10 pusher unit. 1950s. www.alanpease.co.uk/boats/littlekirkby.htmlI think it was on for £15k previously. I guess the engine is out so add £5k to put something nice in there. It occurred to me that this might be an interesting houseboat vessel for the Thames because being short it could moor in more places. You could easily moor it bow-on as well as it is wide. The obvious question is would it handle at all or would it just wander about all over the place. Quite a nice bit of room for a short vessel.
