It won't be long before we'll read that you've bought yourself a yacht for the sea . Never quite understand how people write these ads, without giving important information concerning the boat they want to sell. It says 33ft Bermudian Sloop, but in the discription it's recuced to 32', and to lose that 1' it seems they've simply made a straight cut at the stern. The boat was built between 1992 and 1995, but the Perkins 4107 was already an old type of engine at that time, replaced by the 4108. I was curious to know how much the fueltank capacity in gallons is, and I know now that that is "Maldon", which is a new unit to me, I know liters and gallons, even the US ones, but never heard of Maldon. Evenso, I was getting interested but then noticed what's written in the posting, and will forget about this boat as well. I wonder if they managed to get hold of a new old stock 4107. Its possible. One of my boats has a P4 (4.192) which although an old engine initially produced in 1937 it was crated by the Admiralty and not actually put into service until 1996 when the boat was built. That's what I was told and I think there is a good chance its true.
As I understand it when they first came out they were so advanced that the admiralty bought loads of them and ended up with surplus units which just sat in boxes in storage.
Possibly not the case with the 107.

the other possibility is that it is a replacement engine ..... and that is what came along at the right price.

A lot. Of boat for that kind of money. I think it's indicative of the fact that big boats are less attractive because of the widebeam tax .
edit to add I'm talking about the Sheffield class boat.

Certainly is if thats an actual sale price. Nice boat ! HA6 is quite a serious power unit as well. What's that about 13hp per cylinder so 78hp ish? Or maybe downrated towards 60hp. Still loads of go. There were two or three river Lea tugs with those units in and they were hauling around more than one 75x13ft barge at a time. 66@1800. According to realdiesels.co.uk/listerdata.html HA6 marine engine. Also a really good choice for that particular boat because it means no buggering about with keel coolers so keep it simple and minimises the invasive modifications.

Now if LAKE turned up on eBay and went for a good price then that WOULD be interesting !!
Of course LAKE is probably worth more because it can go on wide canals where a Sheffield boat can't fit.

Yes looks interesting. I wonder if peter bargemast can give any information about the builder "jachtbouw, tenbroek, Aalsmeer". Being out of the water helps for inspection purposes. Derv diesel heater is a bit of an odd way of putting it as they usually run OK on red as well. The window in the hull side is a little unusual for this sort of boat. Quite a nice feature I think.
